Ushers showed people to their seats during songs and were talking loudly. Additionally, ushers weren’t sure of the number system on the chairs.
There were no established rules shared with the audience prior to the performance starting. Therefore, people were texting, taking flash photography, filming, phones were ringing, and flashlights were turned on and off. Audience members were up and down constantly during the performance going to the concessions. Plus, there were some unruly audience members.
All of the above greatly detracted from the enjoyment of the performance. By the time the performance was over, I was relieved to be able to leave. I don’t indulge in concerts very often but when I do I should be expected to have a peaceful, pleasurable time. I will NOT be returning to The Gillioz.

Me and a friend sat 2nd row June 13th 2022 at the GILLIOZ THEATER seeing Shaun Cassidy. We enjoyed it. And really nice theater and the employees who work there are nice.

I attended a Steve Earle concert at this venue. At the very beginning of the concert the group I was with was approached by a security guard and told that there was too much excess chatter. We were being too loud.... At a concert.... I have never experienced something like that. Keep in mind this was at a Steve Earle concert. This was not at an opera or symphony.... It was nuts. Staff was very rude. It was a terrible experience.

Beautiful theater restored from the days when the venue was as much a part of the experience as the show itself. Of course, the acoustics are great.
We had so-so seats for a relatively short comic opera, with the string ensemble (and harpsichordist) on stage. After we sat down, management determined the musicians were probably blocking part of our view and moved us from the side to the center in the fourth row. Thank you!

This was our first visit to the Gillioz. We made the trip to see Stephan Curtis Chapman solo. What a great experience!. We loved the atmosphere and felt like the performance was just for us. We will be looking for more opportunities to attend at this wonderfully restored theatre.

... in a revitalized downtown. My wife & I attended a one-man stage show there featuring Canadian writer & comedic actor Steve Smith, better known in the U.S. as PBS TV personality "Red Green." Theater staff members from the entry security team to the concession vendors to the ushers were all very friendly & welcoming. The refurbished theater has good vocal acoustics, very attractive decorative details, and relatively comfortable seating with generous legroom. We sat three rows from the back of the slightly sloping orchestra seating in the center section, and had a good view of the activities on the stage with just a bit of view shifting required to see around the heads of the people in the row in front of us. The Gillioz might be better suited for enjoying a concert rather than a comedy act or stage play requiring better lines of sight; but it should present a satisfying venue to patrons for any of those featured attractions.

My wife and I came here to see Aaron Lewis and his acoustic show. The place was really beautiful and intimate and comfortable. It's a smaller venue, which we enjoy. Plenty of room in the aisles and restrooms available close by. Well staffed for our event.

If you want to see a concert this is the place to go! The historical Ambience is unmatched. Every concert is intimate as all seats are good. There is a restaurant that is connected with a nice bar. The best place in Springfield to see live music! I have seen 8 concerts here and have been happy every time!
