This is a pretty cool open space tight on the edge of town. Great for a cliffside walk, a picnic, or for for practicing technical skills on a mountain bike on all the rock formations. The only drawback is that this is a fairly narrow strip between the cliff and the highway that leads into billingsvfeom the North, so you're never far from the road.

We came here to hike around after lunch on a Monday. And it was pretty empty. We saw 2 other hikers. We didn't do the whole thing, but we did a portion and were able to get up to see the city. The first view we saw was of the electric or refinery plant, which was not really a nice view. But looking to the left, there was a really pretty view. This is a good place to exercise and we spent less than 30 minutes. And then we were ready to go, but you could do a much longer one if you wanted to.

Great views of Billings and the surrounding area from these cliffs. Very hot and little cover from the sun when we were there. We started from the point near the airport - should have driven further east and started from the center of the park.

Beautiful! It was an easy hike that anybody could enjoy, but so gorgeous that it wasn’t boring for avid hikers. The scenery is breathtaking and the trail was easy, if you watch where you’ll going you’ll be fine. It’s relaxing if you want to hike alone, but it’s exciting if you want it to be! Kids, teens, and adults will all enjoy this hike. Couldn’t of been more beautiful.

Excellent walk with great vistas.
Paved walkway and/or walk closer to the cliff edge on dirt & rock. Very safe on paved. Easy walk, very little elevation. Enjoy!

Our visit to Billings reminded me of a camping trip many years ago when I overnighted at an RV camp ground, that had a few tenting sites. Did a little exploring around the area and saw I was just a few yards from the Yellowstone river with these huge cliffs on the other side. Very peaceful area, nothing to hear but the river and the birds soaring along the cliff-sides. Something that you will always remember.

This was super cool! It was great to watch the sunset from the rimrocks! It was a short hike to the top but worth it! It was gorgeous. Definitely worth the stop!

Great views and a very nice paved trail. It’s a bit hard to find because there are no signs pointing to it. If you’re using your GPS, put in Swords Rimrock Park. You can park your car in the parking lot and walk the rim.

Beautiful vistas and great hiking. Dog friendly but be careful along the rims. Our family lives by the rims and we have made the hike up to the top many times.

Enjoyed the Rimrocks and Billings in general. Need better signage to get to the Rimrocks. Had some good food and enjoyed the Hampton Inn.

You can see the Rimrocks from downtown, but then as you go up to the airport, you can ride along them or there is a little park that you can visit and walk along them!!

How do you get to The Rimrocks? What can we put into the GPS that would get us close to or to the right location?

If you put Billings Logan Airport in your navigation system, that should get you there. Access to the Rimrock trail is just east of the airport.
