Took Jeff's beginner class with family and friends. Jeff is such a great instructor. The class was so informative and left feeling super confident on the water. He made sure to give super helpful safety tips as well. He also made sure everyone got the hang of all maneuvers before moving on. Jeff is a great storyteller too! Beautiful day on the water. The river is quiet with not a ton if motor boat activity.

Our family had a wonderful time in the water(large group of us). Staff was friendly and prepared. The water is calm and we stopped in the little “beach” to eat our lunch! Can’t wait to do it again!!

I have paddled at Contoocook River Canoe a number of times, and have always had a great time. It's a slow, easy river to paddle, the staff is great and the prices are very reasonable. It's common to see a Bald Eagle, Herons, an occasional Deer, and if you're real luck, a Moose or Bear. A great, economical place to spend a day on the water!

We were a large group, with a mix of rental and owned kayaks. For a small fee the guys loads up owned kayaks with the rentals ones and bring them and you to drop off point.
The "trip" itself is a 9 mile lazy river, which in our case with a couple of short stops and swims took about 5 hours in total. The river has hardly any current and is like being on a lake, as such you don't get much assistance in your paddling.
The river itself is fairly quiet, we only saw 8 other kayakers in our 5 hours so you really do have a lovely peaceful journey through the countryside back to your car.

First, time using Contoocook River Canoe Company, I must say what an amazing place this is. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and really good people.
I would recommended the shuttle and kayak back to the beach.
It is a 9 mile run but it is amazing. The river is clear & beautiful. If you are luck like I was today you will see the Bald Eagle, Osprey & other amazing birds.
This is a wonderful place, if you are thinking about going, go and have a great day on the river. If you have been but haven't made it back well you need to get back because the river is calling your name.
Great service, the equipment is up to date. I would HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

First timers here and we were a mixed crew ranging in age from 40-65 with varying degrees of (dis)abilities and none of us had ever even been on a kayak. This was the perfect introduction! Fair prices, decent equipment, great instruction and an overall perfect day, and place, to learn kayaking. Unfortunately for them I will not be returning because, we enjoyed it SO much, we went out and all bought our own Yaks :) Job well done, guys!

Did the 9 mile shuttle up stream. This is basically a run between two sams, there were no releases since the water was high meaning limited current. This is a deep, north flowing stream. Good safety briefing prior to bus shuttle. Limited wildlife on river in early August. Good swimming beach 2/3 of the way down very popular with locals. The Company also sales a nice variety of good to excellent boats. I would have liked to see staff help at waters edge especially at launch point.

My Granddaughters and I did the nine mile trip. I have a very bad back with leg issues and their kayaks are very comfortable although I will bring a soft cushion the next time for my butt. They shuttled us to Contoocook Village where we entered the river. The current worked with us and it is very easy paddling. Lots of wildlife and beautiful flowers along the way. The staff was good but was lacking in the personal touch. However it was a great day!

We rented kayaks the weekend before last and it was absolutely perfect. Not a ton of people so it was relatively quiet. The weather was sunny and warm which provided the perfect setting for floating down river. Great value for the price. Training was a little suspect but pretty much unnecessary for kayaking. Nice, calm location with limited boat traffic which was nice. Stay clear of the port-a-potty's which haven't been cleaned since the beginning of the season. Other than that, enjoy the great outdoors and beauty of NH!

This was my first time kayaking, so needless to say I was a bit nervous. The staff was excellent and put my mind right at ease. After a safety lesson and overview of the map, they shuttled us up to our drop off point and unloaded our kayaks. The small beach was easy to launch from, even for this beginner. The river had a very slow current so it was easy to maneuver. We moved slowly, at our own pace and enjoyed all the wildlife and flora along the way. We brought a picnic lunch, stopped for a break at a beach, and easily found our way back, slid the kayaks on their beach and they did the rest. Great day!!
