Love this hike and view. If you can't hike to the top, drive up the auto road and enjoy the views. It's a relatively short hike that should be family friendly for kids and adults. It is challenging a few sections but worth the effort.

Although this hike will get your heart pumping in a few places, kids over the age of 6 or so will love it. There are beautiful rocks and glades and you can quickly tell how high you've ascended as you will get an early viewpoint out to the distant mountains. IF YOU HAVE YOUNGER CHILDREN OR ARE NOT ABLE TO DO THE HIKE, YOU CAN DRIVE UP TO THE SUMMIT. There is a small snack shack and gift shop up there with ice cream, cold water and snacks. You can climb the fire tower for more distant views.

This place is stunning. More than that, it is 100% physically challenging. I am an overweight 39 year old with no climbing experience. Although I am very active, nothing compares to the sheer physical ascend of this mountain. Granted we went on an 85 degree day. That being said, we got a little more than half way up before deciding our inexperienced shaky legs more importantly needed to get us back down. That took us 2 1/2 hours. You do need to watch your step rather than the view for the most part. Stay off flat sandy rocks and confirm the solidity of rocks before you step on them. Make sure you bring plenty of water
Overall it was an amazing and challenging experience. We hope to reach the summit next time we are out in NH!

Our hiking group hiked Pack Monadnock this past Monday, 3/18/19. It was a great day for a hike with temps in the low to mid 30's. The trail was well marked with icy conditions in several spots. We used our micro spikes to navigate over the icy trails. A few times it was necessary to remove our spikes along portions of the trail and put them back on for the icier spots as we ascended the mountain. We had some terrific views of Mt Monadnock & the entire Monadnock range. We also were able to see Boston which was approximately 78 miles away. Lunch near the summit was comfortable with the picnic benches provided. Plenty of room for our party of eight.
We had a couple of falls but no serious injuries occurred. Overall it was a day of delight. The entire hike took us 4 hours including trail breaks & lunch.

We've wanted to hike and enjoy some foliage recently but the frequent rain has not allowed it. We were able to enjoy a chilly, cloudy hike up the summit road on Saturday and enjoyed it very much! It was very quiet when we arrived at 8:45. The gate to drive up to the summit does not open until 9 so we took off walking after using the porta-johns on the far side of the parking lot. They were clean.
There were several nice views on the way up and we didn't see any cars headed up until about 9:15 or so. I'm glad we decided to walk. We got in a 3-mile hike with some spots being pretty steep and we were able to stop and take as many photos we wanted.
Because it was cloudy, we didn't have a clear view at the top, but the clouds were starting to lift so we got some good pictures. The entire hike up and back took us about an hour and a half, including the time at the top.
I would definitely recommend this spot and next time, we would take a trail rather than the road.
There is a recommended donation to enter the road but not sure if that includes the hiking trails.

Great hike for families. It is a mountain and rocky, so expect a 45 minute steady climb up and similar for the way down. Great views at the top.

This was a recommendation from a family member to visit while we were in town; so we decided to try it. They have both hiking trails and vehicle access road. We drove up the very narrow road. The views at the top were well worth the drive. The drive down is a bit scary. Road is very steep, winding, very narrow for one car never mind two-way traffic, and to complicate matters worse, many of the hikers choose not to use the hiking trails to go down and instead walk the road.

Steep drive to the top but worth it. It's only a mile up the road but on a clear day you can see Boston.

Hike it. Drive it. Doesn't matter. Get up there anyway you can. Oldest Park in NH. The 360 views are stunning.

The views are amazing and so is the staff. We went on an overcast day but still had great views all around. We could clearly see Boston, and the White Mountains.
