Downtown Keene, NH - it was an absolute delight!

First of all, the downtown area is just so picturesque. The historic architecture is truly something to behold, with beautiful brick buildings and charming storefronts lining the streets.
The downtown area is filled with all sorts of unique and independent shops selling everything from artisanal chocolates to handmade jewelry.

There are also tons of amazing restaurants and cafes to check out, all with their own unique charm and flavor.
All in all, I cannot recommend downtown Keene enough.

I loved walking around the square during our visit to Keene! So many shops and restaurants, lots of people out and about. Very charming!

Pictures are deceiving. Town is old and not in a good way. Kind of run down. Looks like industry left and it’s no longer thriving. Lots of tattooed, pierced students from the nearby college. Very few nice shops. Area around looks rundown.

Best Western very old building. The registration people like to give you a hassle.

The Best Western gave me trouble checking in. We got there at 7pm after traveling from Niagara Falls NY The registration was horrible The young me questioned me for several minutes about my age but he would not believe me. I showed him my drivers license and he said it was illegal because it was going different than NH. Finally offered to show my passport but my husband.came up with my baby then got the room. Would not recommend this hotel . It is very old somewhat clean. Asked for more towels it took over an hour.

Great taste of Keene

There is a lot to do in the Keene area but the square is a cool hang out. Great little shops and restaurants. It’s picturesque with the historic churches right there. Meter parking for most of the square but only 85 cents an hour from 9-5. We had lunch, found great deals at a consignment shop, bought chocolate from the olde shoppe. It was a nice afternoon.

Nice center to City

Visit the city of Keene and the downtown area is charming. The Central Square is a terrific small park with lots of activity. Nice shady areas for seating and conversation. Lots of shops and restaurants around.

Nice smaller park with fountain and gazebo in it. It is easily accessible from the street. Of note the is a few for parking on the street except for Sundays when it is free

Walked with teenagers doing Pokemon go. Dangerous crossing streets to get to square. Homeless in park lately. Have seen bands here in past, ice sculptures, drive by and people are protesting, etc. I wouldn't let teens go unsupervised. Does have a fountain

Central Square Attractively Landscaped

Many times, my wife and I had driven by Central Square and seen it from the outside during the 25 months that we had been in the area. We had seen demonstrations, protests, and rallies. However, this time we talked around the Square and found it very pleasant, clean, and larger than it appeared from the outside. Anyone should take ten minutes and enjoy a stroll in this park under the large trees. Well worth it!

Pumpkin Festival

Was in town during the pumpkin season and the pumpkin festival weekend. The square was pretty and centrally located surrounded by local businesses including some nice cafes and restaurants. Autumn in New England is really something and the square looked so pretty.
I took some pictures when I learned that this was where some scenes in Jumanji (Robin Williams' version of course) were filmed.
