This place is fabulous! Stuffed to the gills with phones of all shapes and sizes and ages. You learn about the history of phones and the evolution of phones over the years. You can do some hands-on activities with operating a switchboard and telegraph machine. There is an exhibit on Alexander Graham Bell and his inventions and interests. This place far exceeded our expectations and was well worth the price of admission and a couple hours. You can see it all in less time, or you can spend way more.
Downstairs is the Warner Firefighters Museum, which has very limited hours, but if it's open be sure to check it out. It's worth another 15 minutes.

A small museum but well worth a visit !! Lots of information and exhibits .

We visited as a bus group on a Saturday morning and were warmly welcomed. After a very informative and interesting introduction to the museum, everyone had time to look around and enjoy the many displays and information there. Don't let the smaller size of this museum fool you, it's a great take-in!

What a wonderful gem of a place. We were looking for a 'day trip' adventure from Boston, and the NHTM was the PERFECT spot.
The phones are definitely the star here...seeing so many models from way back when, and seeing the craftsmanship that went into them...it's amazing. Lots of information on the phones, and the process for which the invention came about.
We want to thank Graham, she was absolutely wonderful and informative when it came to any questions asked, and even demonstrated a few of the larger machines and switchboards.
There was a special exhibit while we were there on the evolution of train communication as well. A short introductory video started us on our journey and we spent a nice bit of time there reading all the information for the exhibit.
There was also a 'hands on' area where you can work a switchboard yourself. Located in Warner, NH, you will find yourself with other things to do in the area as well, so make the trip, bring the family (or your friends) and check out this unique and fun museum.

After visiting the rural birthplace of Daniel Webster, we drove 14 miles further to this small village. What a surprise to see the size of this collection of telephone paraphernalia. It was closed but with no one around, we peaked into the windows to see some of this unusual collection of this dedicated collector.
It reminded us of our visit to the Museum of Radio & Technology in Huntington, WV where an older dedicated historian/collector did a similar collection with the early electronics.

The New Hampshire Telephone Museum contains a great collection of telephone and other communications technologies from the past ~140 years. Started by the owners of a local telephone company, this museum has artifacts from that company's retired telephone equipment. The owners expanded this with telephone artifacts from other telephone companies and users to build a representative collection of nearly every type of telephone that's been used in the United States over the decades. If you are interested in this technology and/or was a user of rotary phones, pay phones and other now-gone pieces of telephony in the "Good Old Days," you'll enjoy this museum.
A current special exhibit also covers the growth of railroads in New Hampshire and how telegraphs, telephones, and other communications equipment aided in the movements of trains. Railroad enthusiasts will also enjoy this part of the museum.

It was nice to spend as much time as we wanted during our visit. Too bad that the hands-on exhibits could not be experienced due to the pandemic and the resultant precautions. It was nice to see old style telephones, especially the ones I used to use.

When you visit most museums, the experience is exactly that. You enter a building, there are various items on display in keeping with the theme and title of
the museum, publications and mementos for sale and, off you go.
The New Hampshire Telephone Museum is quite a different experience. It is more like visiting a dear friend or cherished relative who has cared to preserve the fondest memories and artifacts of something that is an intrinsic part of your life and takes great joy in sharing a newly found gem.
Go there. It will be a good time.
