We had lunch in this pub. It's been recently revarnished and has a few period features. Frank Sinatra was playing and the food was a bit slow but fine. General George Washington ate here. He probably had the house burger!

Poor excuse for everything! Place is a dumpy dive. Go out, but don't go here. Place is uninviting & not clean.

I used to work in the area of General Poor's and we went there often for lunch. Burgers and sandwiches are good and the service is attentive.

General Poor's is the place to be if you are at or near the county courthouse. Long center bar, pool tables and eating in back and several tables near the front door. Food is very good; portions large and prices reasonable. Service is fast and friendly. Don't miss the daily specials, the mac salad, the burgers, etc. Do yourself a favor and go!

My office was located for many years on the same block as this restaurant near the Bergen County courthouse, and I ate here several times over a period of several years. We were last here last Winter. The food is good, but I don't understand how this business is considered a "thing to do" by Trip Advisor. I consider this an error. Call it what it is, which is a restaurant.

I have had an office within a mile of this place for almost 40 years. It is a great burger and sandwich joint. They have excellent potato salad than you can have instead of fries. It's a friendly local joint that is mobbed for lunch as it is 100 yards from the Bergen County Courthouse. Later it becomes a local pub with a busy pool table in back. For years, one of their bartenders was from France and I used to enjoy chatting with her in French. Prices are modest and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for a good cheap lunch.

The burgers are to die for. The service is great, friendly, and fast without attitude. I have not been dissapointed with any food I have eaten here.

This tavern is OK - a couple of local barfly's -service is nice I might add - but the ambiance isn't anything to write home about.

Across from the County Court House and many government offices this local landmark hits the spot.On a 90 degree plus day last week we stopped in for a cold one,which was perfect.One became two and lunch was on the way.My lawyer and I both enjoyed perfectly cooked burgers with potato sides.A very nice atmosphere with excellent service,very good food and ice cold drinks.What else can you ask for?

The location on Main Street by the Green in Hackensack across the street from the back of the Bergen County Buildings is the Place. Good beer selection and the food is acceptable. A great place before and after the Hackensack Summer Concert Series. A place to go in the Sack.
