Went to see a play at the recommendation of a friend. While there is not much seating available, it's arranged in a semi-circle with the play in the middle. Makes for a very cozy setting. Acting was outstanding. Highly recommend going there. Get there early, else you'll be parking on the street.-

We went to see our first play ever last night at Circle Playhouse. Even though I've lived in the area for years, I had never been to this intimate and charming venue. Two or three rows of seats surround 3 sides of the stage which is slightly lower than the audience. The play we saw was a gripping, serious drama with challenging roles and staging called Eye of God. It was excellent! I couldn't believe the quality of the acting and clever staging. Because of those things, I was gripped right from the beginning through the whole play and forgot I was in a community theatre in central New Jersey and not some bigger, more famous venue. If you like theatre, I highly recommend a visit to Circle Playhouse.

I have been going to shows at Circle Playhouse since my husband appeared there in THE LION IN WINTER in the early 1980s. The space is a cozy theatre in the round, and the creative people who volunteer there have stretched the space to accommodate musicals (THE FANTASTICKS, CHESS), Shakespeare (THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, KING LEAR) and classic American plays (THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU). What they do best, however, is to produce cutting edge theatre - plays you won't see at the other community theatres. I just saw their production of RAVENSCROFT, a thinking person's Gothic thriller by Don Nigro. I thoroughly enjoyed the play, the performances and the production. Best of all, I didn't have to pay any bridge or tunnel tolls to get there, and the tickets were only $18! If you want to try the live theatre experience, treat yourself to a visit to Circle Playhouse in Piscataway!

This small (approx 75 seat) theater is known in central NJ as a spot to see cutting edge theater, done extremely well. Their last season saw 4 of their 6 productions nominated as best production by NJ Assoc. of Community Theaters.
If you are looking for a night of intellegent, professional level entertainment, this is the spot in Central NJ
