Lots of history here as well as some fun little shops and restaurants as well. We went on a Wednesday and had no trouble parking our duly truck. There is a nice size parking lot near the church to the left a block or two.

We have been here many times before. The variety of shopping is very nice, hit and miss in quality and origin of items.

We were in our way from Tucson to Carlsbad in a road trip. The travel was somewhat boring until we arrive to Mesilla. What a surprise! This is a lovely, little, sophisticated, historical town close to Las Cruces. The Plaza is very nice, very quiet, very clean. It is surrounded by very eclectic stores where you can buy antiques, jewelry, memorabilia, etc. Visit Nambe, what a wonderful store! It sells excellent cooking products that are original from New Mexico; their design is unique. The little town is very photogenic. The history of Billy the Kid and its connection with Mesilla is very interesting.
There are very nice restaurants around the plaza. Some are very fancy!

Beautiful, colorful, old New Mexico, warm welcoming Sunday family outing at the plaza. Live music, food, parking is a challenge but well worth it. Worst case scenario you'll walk two blocks. Pepper's is right there if you want a sit down meal or a cold drink.

I came for a restaurant, but I stayed for a good walk around town. It was great to take in the local sights and get a feel for the architecture and the historic importance of Mesilla. Lots of interesting shops and sights!

We spent a couple of hours here on a Sunday morning before everything started. Church service was in progress and they had loud speaking broadcasting the service into the plaza where people can participate outdoor. Walked around the plaza filled with history. Wish we had more time to enjoy a meal at one of those restaurants there.

The history of this plaza dated back to mid 1850's although it looks much older. It was once the haunt of Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett and Poncho Villa. There are many nice little stores with local artisan goods for sale. The horsehair pottery available here is gorgeous and every piece is one of a kind. I loved the seating on the plaza square, and the abundance of restaurants available for dining. Absolutely a lovely way to spend an afternoon. One of my favorite wineries has a bistro and store close to here- LesCombes (formerly St. Claire Winery) which is really worth a stop.

We spent a very nice couple of hours walking around and visiting the various shops. Some had some nice original art and pottery.

We enjoyed wandering around the several blocks of the Old Town. There was nice shade on the square and the church that anchors the area was fairly impressive. My wife appreciated the retail therapy in a half dozen of the shops in the area. And we found a nice restaurant in the area to come back to for dinner later in the day.
