Best outdoor space in the capital region.

As a volunteer and frequent visitor of Landis , I never get tired of what this gem offers on my visits. The miles of walking trail, the gardens, the Meditation pavillion, the Friday night music venue, the star parties, the annual 5k ,and of course the spring and fall plant sales are what keep me coming back. The variety of tree species, rare plants, and the vistas are the best in the capital region bar none. Bring your dog for a walk, have a picnic with your family or bring your binoculars for some fantastic bird watching, rent the facilities f ou r your family party, or snow shoe in the winter. It never gets old. Hope to see you there.

Will return to this hidden gem. Found by accident. Lovely! Buggy as expected. Bring, semi-off trail, walking shoes and a picnic lunch. Doubtful you can stop to smell all the flowers here all in one day. Very unique fauna on the expansive grounds. Free, yet you're asked to donate. Well worth the $5 - $20. We went June 2nd. Most everything blooming. Bring your yoga mat and make beads.

I expected more

I have fond memories of visiting arboretums in the past, and was really looking forward to enjoying a local arboretum. It’s a beautiful and peaceful setting, but I was expecting more. If I had been more prepared for the walk, I probably would’ve enjoyed it more. The paths were very overgrown. (I should’ve worn pants.) The trees were nice, but I felt like I was taking a walk through the woods rather than a well-maintained arboretum. There were a lot of bugs too, and many wet paths. In the future, I will plan to wear pants, better hiking shoes, and bug protection. It has a lot of potential.

We've been to the arboretum many times. It's a great place to relax, take in nature, and enjoy seasonal activities. We're very lucky to live so close.

This is a great place to go for walks and enjoy nature. Trails are very well marked and there are a lot of interesting plants and trees to look at as you walk. There's also a lot of wildlife in the area. The place was full of beautiful songbirds and we also saw some bunnies hopping up the trail ahead of us. It's a peaceful place that allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. If you're a nature lover, you should be here!

Our neighborhood gem

We look to the arboretum as a place of respite, learning, and culture. We've learned so much about what grows naturally in our area, taken a class on planting, attended a concert, and gotten expert advice on planting trees. Biannual plant and tree sales draw garden lovers from all over the region. We're very lucky.

A walk in nature

The Landis Arboretum is perfect for a day hike through fields and wooded areas. The nature views are some of the best in the area. Picnic tables are available for a picnic lunch. You'll need to bring your own food and there no cooking allowed. Carry in carry out. The day we were there the property was open but the gates were locked makings it a little difficult for those older folks or folks with disabilities.

I stopped in for a string quartet's "Tour of Europe" performance, which was quite good - but having never been to the Landis Arboretum, I was amazed at the venue.

Incredible views of Schoharie valley that were quite breathtaking. Beautiful gardens as well. Great place to go if you want to connect with nature and breathe fresh air!

Also, I heard that it is one of the best spots for stargazing because of the vast unobstructed view, and the lack of light pollution. I can't wait to go back after the sun sets and check out the stars.
