Amazing experience

I participated in the 3-day tour to visit Mole national park and I had a really great time. Isaac was a wonderful tour guide and very friendly (also knowledgeable about a lot of different birds in the park which was really cool). Isaac is a responsive and helpful tour guide and made sure that everything ran smoothly. We were able to see lot of elephants, baboons, antelopes, etc. I highly recommend booking this tour!!

Goed geregelde tour waarbij veel dieren te zien zijn. Accomodatie was top!

Ik zou deze tour zeker aanraden. De organisatie was uitstekend met goede communicatie.
Er was altijd voldoende water aanwezig tijdens de safari en uitstapjes. Onze guide was vrolijk en heel aardig. Hij kon een hoop vertellen en tips gegeven waardoor onze trip moeiteloos verliep. De sfeer is goed!
We hebben tijdens de safari veel dieren gezien, waaronder alle dagen olifanten!Ook de accomodatie was top. Een goed werkende airco was zeker geen overbodige luxe. De aapjes kwamen tot aan je deur, waardoor het voelde alsof je altijd op safari was.

Ik voelde mij op mijn gemak en zou deze tour 100% aanraden aan vrienden/familie. Als je twijfelt, niet doen!

Best tour guide ever

If you want the full safari experience, these guys know what they’re doing! The communication was great, the crew is very helpful, friendly and professional and the planning was really thought through. There is room to make adjustments in your plans, if you’d like to. We were picked up with a nice van in Tamale and went straight to Mole motel. The motel is nicely located centered in the park where the baboons are curiously walking around and the pool has an amazing view over the park, with a beautiful sunset. We settled down and ended our first day with a car safari and saw lots of interesting animals and got very close to an elephant. The next morning we did a walking safari which made you really go into the deep wildernis and take a good look at a broad variety of antilopes, baboons, elephants, birds and crocodiles. Later that day we got picked up with the van to go and visit a small village where we saw the process of making shea butter and were taught about the treatments from the local herbalist. We decided we wanted another car safari after and that was no problem. We had a nice dinner and some drinks to end the day, but headed to bed early to go see the hippos the next morning. Unfortunately we didn’t see any hippos, yet everybody said it was very rare to NOT see them. But that didn’t bother us. The boat tour on its own was a great experience. We spend the afternoon relaxing at the pool and chatting with some of the rangers and our tour guide. The last morning we went to see the mosque in Larabanga which is a must see. Unfortunately you cannot enter if not muslim, but the outside of the building is too beautiful to not capture on camera. We grabbed lunch with our lovely tour guide before they dropped us off at the busstation in Tamale. He even helped us to get a car to Kumasi. All in all, we had a great time and would really recommend people this organization. They took really good care of us, had lots of knowledge and really met our preferences.

A super well organized tour. Everything was immediately/well arranged and the communication was top notch. Many animals seen during the safari. Very cool. Well worth doing the tour!

Run, don’t walk, to book this safari company experience!

I organized a very last minute safari during a work trip to Ghana and everyone I worked with (Isaac and David!) was incredibly responsive, professional and detailed. In really appreciated their flexibility and a few changes to my itinerary which resulted in one of the best safari experiences of my life! David was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the region and of the park itself. He and the rangers made everyone feel very safe yet very in tune with nature when we were amongst all the wildlife. With a bit of luck of course on our side, we managed to see more mammals on the two safari drives than I had ever seen on longer safari drives in East Africa. But this was also due to their persistence in locating them so we were able to see more varieties of animals. The long weekend trip really de-stressed and put me at peace between my two weeks of intense work in Accra. This was truly a memorable experience and I will absolutely be returning as soon as I can! 👍

We had a custom-made trip organised with Grassroots Tours to Mole National Park, which also included guided visits around Tamale. Our guide, David, was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and was always prepared to be flexible to our requirements. We had a fantastic time, and loved seeing elephants in their natural surroundings.
Planning another visit soon!

Beyond satisfied with this tour

This tour was amazing and Isaac the guide were so helpful and so professional. We are so pleased with the tour from the beginning to the very end. Beyond the tour Isaac helped us to book transport to our next destination and we are so grateful for that. He even drove us to the bus station 5 am the day after the tour had ended, just to help us on the right vehicle.

Amazing 7 day tour

We booked a seven day tour starting from cape coast, going through Kumasi, Mole and Tamale to the Volta region. Our guide Isaac did a fantastic job. He is both a kind, fun person and a true professional. Everything went super smoothly and Isaac went out of his way to make the stay enjoyable. He was also flexible with spontaneous changes and helped us with some plannings for our further itinerary. Last but not least we also always felt very safe with his driving skills. We are very thankful for the great experience and can definitely recommend booking a tour with Isaac!

Tamale and Salaga Excursions

On March 15, 2023, David gave me a tour of Tamale. Our first stop was the Savanna Arts Center’s Red Clay Studio. I found Ishmael Mohama’s Art compelling especially the photos of the kayayo’s women’s arms. The installation Parliament of Ghost was deceptively simple. We walked over to see the airplanes which serve as classrooms. Our friend told us that his children have enjoyed their weekend art classes in the airplane.

Next up was a stroll through the colorful, chaotic Central Market. David patiently answered my questions.

We drove by the magnificent Grand Mosque. Then shopped at COLWOD for beautiful batik.

On March 16, 2023, I again made arrangements with David to visit Salaga. Although the museum was sparse, walking through the area was solemn. A local guide, who was a retired teacher, showed us the bathing wells, the slave market, and cemetery.

We also visited a traditional tannery and learned about the multi-step process.

David was a safe driver and a pleasant tour guide. I highly recommend him and Grass Roots Tours.
