On a long daytrip to Schoharie from Albany, I happened to spot a covered bridge as I drove along North Main Street over a bridge that crossed Fox Creek. After visiting that and walking through it, I discovered Lily Park on the other side of the covered bridge. Figuring that the road there was Fort Road, I doubled back; and, sure enough, it was just up around the bend from the Old Stone Fort Museum.
Lily Park was a community undertaking. Different people and groups sponsored maintenance in sections of the park. The end result was a collection of individual sections with varied themes and settings. Each section fostered a different activity or type of relaxation.
There was a landscaped, well-maintained trail through the park with flowers here and there.
There were areas that left me with lasting impressions.
The first was a garden swing in a shady spot under some trees near the Foxcreek Bridge, a picturesque covered bridge.
The other was a small circular garden with plantings in the middle and seating all around. Everything was close enough to promote conversation.
Another shady section held a picnic grove with picnic tables.
It was a scenic place of serenity to enjoy the outdoors. I sat and relaxed there awhile.
I rate Lily Park at 4.50.
