When I stepped into entrance I froze ,,not sure if I wanted to enter...Wow ,,,to be fair they had everything,prices are high but its the only grocery store in area..

We stopped here yesterday in search for a quick grab and go lunch....AMAZING store and the subs were made to order perfection!!! So we don't forget where we got them enroute we have named the subs "Spectaculators"! The best in quick food with very friendly staff.

This is a very nice local grocery store with good prices and it also has gift items, some sweatshirts, books and souvenirs.

A trip to Lake Piseco is not complete without visiting Charlie John's Store in Speculator. We ended up making a few trips to this store. They have all your grocery store needs including a nice deli and meat shop. They also have beer! This is not sold in our home state, so it was a pleasant surprise! We also found that Charlie John's had the nicest sweatshirts and hoodies that other stores in town. There is an extensive selection of books on the local towns. They also sell stickers that are cheaper than the other stores in town. Charlie John's is a great resource for all your needs while on vacation!

Stopped here during our family trip. Prices are a bit high but to be expected for the area. They definitely have the essentials and then some of you like to browse.

Our family stopped here while camping in the area. The area is remote, and we were happy to find this store for our needs. It is a grocery type store, and had everything we needed to replenish supplies for camping.....especially beer :) They have a large walk in cooler with many craft beer selections available. We will be stopping here whenever we are in the area.

We thankfully live only 10 minutes away in the summer, and it certainly surprises me each time how much stuff is here (and not all from China). There's a mini book store filled with Adirondack-themed books, some of them thinly traded and unusual. (Two thumbs up for not trying to be Barnes&Noble-of-the-Woods!)
I never feel that the prices are unreasonable -- probably because they are not just catering to summer crowd -- and the beer selection is acceptable, and not just packed with your macro-brew varieties. Fresh bakery and every a DVD/video rental section -- when's the last time you saw that?
CJ's gets a lot of credit for trying to mix it up and keep it somewhat unique and locally relevant.

Basically, this is a grocery store for the locals and for the tourists. But yet Charlie John’s is a lot more. It is the historic stopover place for anyone needing anything in town, including for campout meals and veritable feasts. It also makes subs and sandwiches for the hungry traveler, which I heartily recommend. (Just stop by the deli.) Good stuff!

This is where we go to restock when camping nearby. They have everything we need. The cashiers here are super pleasant & helpful. The inventory here is great too.

Cool old store with much of what you will need when camping, staying at the lake, etc. Store has produce, frozen food, books, camping and grilling supplies. It is pretty much the only game in town, so expect it to be crowded during the summer.
