It is very close and there is a boardwalk and restrooms right there.

Would check their website for departure times & restrictions (believe all passengers must wear a mask now). Earlier is always better for shells. Your time on the islands is up to you! You can wander for hours exploring. If you plan to stay for awhile, make sure you take the usual plenty of water & a snack, sunscreen & bug spray. If you meander through the woods, the mosquitoes were nuts.

Once you get to the island, the horses may or may not be visible where you are let off from the ferry. The ferry drops you off, and you are on the island for approx an hour. No place to sit on the island unless you take a blanket or chair. It’s a beautiful island, but lots of walking if you want to get a closer look at the horses..

This ride is very safe. You can call the ferry servive office and get the answers to all those questions.

Not at the take off point but just up the street is the Visitors Information Center (which is also near the best parking lot as far as ease of getting in and out- you have to pay no matter where you park, even on the street) There are bathrooms there and plenty of info about the area too with nice folks to answer questions. There are also other public restrooms too.

All the numbered spaces are metered at $1 an hour. You pay at boxes nearby the spots with card or cash.
