Was great walking alone the river and just listening to the water flow, big huge rocks in there, can sit on them and just enjoy the sounds of the river!!!

Quite nice.. Kinda short, but really ok. Ate at old rock then headed down the trail. Be careful in the trail, I mean it IS a trail with large rocks on the trail.

Pack some snacks and juice boxes and when your kids are absolutely done following you in and out of the shops...head to the river! There is a pathway to walk along side it and huge rocks to climb on. The water is usually freezing which makes it all the more fun for the kids to get their feet wet. It's a lovely way to relax and not spend any money in a place where everything costs something! :-)

We stumbled into this. it is not real well marked. Access was in between two buildings on the main street. Very beautiful. Loved hearing the water.

After Climbing Chimney Rock take a ride to the village. There is a small river walk where you can sit along side the river and relax. The river is right behind the shops in town.

I’m just obsessed with the Broad River! It’s so beautiful and enchanting. This short & sweet, free (we had no interest in paying the fees to access Chimney Rock State Park), easy-access trail along the river runs right behind the Chimney Rock village shops & restaurants and allows for a very picturesque stroll. My son loved hopping around from rock to rock. There are huge boulders everywhere to really explore! You can’t miss this spot, especially if you have kids!

This was one of our favorite places! The kids loved getting out on the rocks to take photos and put their toes in the freezing cold water.

Easy and short path along the riverfront. Huge boulders and rocks you can walk out on. Great place for pictures. Be sure to grab lunch at one of the restaurants that have a deck overlooking the river.

This is one of my favorite places to visit when in the area. There are nice paths to walk and enjoy the beautiful river. There are also some great photo spots and places to put your feet in and cool off on a hot summer day. Take the time to enjoy this walk if visiting the area. You will not be sorry.

The Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area in North Carolina is very beautiful, and when we visited the area recently, we had a chance to take a walk along the river that runs through the village of Chimney Rock. So relaxing! The area is very shady and the water is cold and clear. You can just sit quietly and listen to the water as it meanders through the rocks, or you can walk along its banks and look at the different types of rocks in the area. If you know what to look for, the creek beds carry a variety of precious gemstones too! A beautiful place to enjoy what North Carolina mountains offer.

I just had full knee replacement surgery, is there anything worth seeing without walking up 499 stairs and the strenuous walk?

There is an elevator at chimney rock but call 1st make sure up and running. This is hill country so not ideal for knee issues or wheelchair. There is restaurants along river with good views. Maybe look into boat trips on lake lure and many scenic drives. Hope you heal quickly and come back when more mobile.
