I have seen the signs for this little station on many occasions previously but struggled to park on Elton road.
I had both of my daughters with me on this occasion and we found the station using the Nene way footpath.
We parked in Yarwell country park and followed the path until we saw a fairly faded sign for the station.
We located a well concealed gateway and eventually found the little station and reserve.
There are fishing lakes located nearby and plenty of wildlife dotted around too.
As for this little station, it is the last on the line and has had investment in recent years and looks very well cared for too.
Obviously there were no trains running on the day we visited but check for future travel as this looks like a lovely little novelty train trip.
I have often said it is such a pity that most of out train tracks were pulled up or abandoned in the 1960s so it is always refreshing to see some left and still running.
There is a quite uneven footpath running alongside a part of the track with seating for viewing.
A lovely part of our county and beauty in abundance.

Yarwell Junction is the current western terminus of the Nene Valley Railway. It opened at Easter 2007. It was formerly the junction of the Peterborough to Northampton and Peterborough to Market Harborough lines.
Parking is available in the Yarwell Country park and using the Nene Way and other directions, this fishing lake/nature reserve and of course the station itself can be found.
Yarwell station is well hidden away and we noticed that the platform and track were both in excellent condition so the area has been taken great care of.
Due to the Covid outbreak naturally the train was not running however we did walk alongside the track until just before the tunnel where the pathway discontinued.
The station and area are a short distance from the Yarwell country park and nearby lakes are used for fishing.
Using the Nene way,The Black Horse and The Queens head pubs are a 15/20 minutes walk away and a handy little shop is also located in Nassington Village.
The area is beautiful and well worth investigating.
A dog friendly beautiful walk....just a shame that this little train was not running.
