No matter how many times we return to the island, we always love to stop and see this beautiful little light. It's always so nice to see it peeking over the marsh around the island, but taking the short jaunt over to it is worthwhile. If you must drive, there are quite a few spaces, and the boardwalk down to it is great to snap a picture. Just try to be respectful as this is in a residential area, near many private homes.

Park and walk 90 feet to lighthouse. Well groomed grounds. Rangers were so informative. Great views.

Ferry ride was unpredictable, we waited for an hour apparently for a dredge to finish its work. The ferry's crew said nothing to help passengers understand the reason for sitting in in open water for an hour.
The lighthouse was disappointing, no tour of the grounds and the keepers house is now a private residence.
We have now seen all the NC lighthouses. See Ocracoke if you must, but you might be better off enjoying a day at the beach.

The 77-foot tall Ocracoke Lighthouse was wonderful to see on nicely kept grounds. There is minimal parking available. Next year will be the 200th anniversary of the lighthouse. A very pleasant park ranger showed us the inside of the lighthpuse and even took a picture of us in front of it. Top notch experince.

Small parking area with a very short walk to the lighthouse. Great spot for photos and a sign telling about the lighthouse. It's not open to the public.

Interesting lighthouse but you are unable to go in lighthouse nor is there a gift shop or museum. Lighthouse and light keeper’s house are fenced off. Not a lot of parking available. I was able to check it off my bucket list of seeing all the NC lighthouses but was a little disappointed after an hour ferry ride to get there that you couldn’t do much there but take a picture.

Can't climb or tour grounds while we were there but still interesting. Busy when we were there had to park in another parking lot

Don’t park in front of the gate. There are a few parking spots to walk the short walkway to the lighthouse. Right next to the actual walkway is a private gate with a keypad. Decorated for Christmas it isn’t obviously seen but there are signs saying do not park between these signs.

this is a very cool looking lighthouse, you can't climb it but it's a neat historic sight just the same.

When my husband and I arrived at Ocracoke we were able to walk from our hotel to the lighthouse. The lighthouse was easy to reach and safe to walk on the road. It is a beautiful landmark and not crowded. We took some nice photos.

Not sure if a pet can run free or not without a leash, but I did see others with pets (April timeframe) on a leash. I hope this helps.
