We only wanted to make a stopover but stayed 2 nights because we found it so beautiful. Gerry and his wife seem very introverted at first, but they are incredibly kind people who have given their lives to saving kangaroos. A campsite high up (we have campervan 2WD, no problem) with the most beautiful sunset & starry sky, surrounded by very tame kangaroos. The mothers breastfeed their babies when you sit down in the meadow with them, a unique experience. It's very clean, family friendly (with only 10 pitches so call ahead), you meet great people and have hot showers. You can also offer your help in return for a pitch, they are both about 70 years old and are happy for a helping hand. Don't forget if it doesn't hurt you to donate a little something. 🥰

Beautiful estate with lots of kangaroos, wallabies and peacocks. You can watch the kangoroos being fed twice a day and even pet them. Garry told us lots about those fantastic creatures, too.
The campsite was clean and cute, the kitchen very well stocked with anything you need. Since there are only 10 spots, it feels a bit more familiar than all the other places we have been before.
I would definitely recommend it! Our two small kids also had a blast

Gravel driveway was unsuitable for pitching a tent, midges were a REAL problem, nothing to do or see, other than the odd peacock or kangaroo. Very underwhelming, would not recommend.

Garry and Denise run the campground in order to support the rehabilitation of orphaned kangaroos. They have a beautiful 10 acre property up on a hill with lovely views. The caravan sites were perfect, being totally level with a nice space for your van and chairs to sit and enjoy the views. The camp kitchen was spotlessly clean and the best equipped of any we’ve been in on our travels. Likewise the bathrooms. Gary is indeed, as some of the reviews have said, a little eccentric, and holds some decidedly odd world views, but he is devoted to his kangaroos. They’re totally free to come and go as they please, but since he feeds them they tend to spend their lives on and around the property. He has raised over 300 babies over the last 20 years, most Joeys that have been rescued from the pouches of kangaroos that have been killed on the road. He recognizes every one and knows their individual characteristics. We watched him every morning and evening feed them and check them over. Big Thomas was the biggest kangaroo I have ever seen and not one to get into an argument with. However he was completely tame and we were able to pat him along with all the others. It was a wonderful experience and I learned a lot about kangaroos! I highly recommend this place.

Ein absoluter Lieblingsort auf unserer Reise entlang Australiens Ostküste! Man erfährt von den Besitzern, die sich mit vollen Herzen um die Tiere kümmern, spannende Dinge über Kängurus und kann Kängurus hautnah erleben. Der Campingplatz auf dem Gelände hat alles, was man braucht. Wir haben uns sehr wohl und willkommen gefühlt. Aus einer Übernachtung sind daher drei geworden.

Great place to stay, wonderful host called Gary greeted us and helped us park our motor home. He allowed us to help feed the kangaroos and shared his wealth of knowledge of how magnificent they are.
His love of them shines through and it is a great place to stay with great facilities too .
We had to leave early so missed the morning feeding but to be able to get up close to these animals was great.
Can’t recommend this place enough.

Horizon Kangaroo Sanctuary ... what an amazing place! We camped but they also have a 1 bedroom unit for rent. The sunsets and sunrises over the forest are awesome. The Roos (Eastern Greys and Whiptails) roam free, some are hand reared some are wild, but will feed out of your hand and allow you to pat them and take pics. You can participate in the feeding sessions at 5.00pm and 7.00 am
Garry and Denise know everyone if them by name. There are many different species of birds running around also, including spectacular peacocks and a cheeky crow. The amenities were very bohemian, but clean and homely, complete with fully stocked kitchen, all running off rainwater tanks 🌎 and so close to the attractions of Agnes Water and 1770. We will definitely be back to stay with Garry and Denise.Thanks guys! Keep up the good work.

My husband and I parked our caravan here during the night and thought that the property was beautiful with great sunset views. The toilets were okay, definitely not the cleanest I’ve been in but hey... you’re camping right? A little inconvenient that the toilets and showers are enclosed together and there are only two. But again, you’re camping, not staying in a luxury hotel.
The kangaroos were the highlight for sure. We’re from Canada and have never seen them up close and we thoroughly enjoyed petting them and watching them eat. If you want this experience I recommend this place, especially because they are not held in captivity (we don’t believe so anyway.. however I’m not sure how much I believe that comes out of the owner’s mouth, which brings me to my next paragraph).
Holy conspiracy theories. Gary voiced his obviously ill-informed and unsolicited opinions on meat and dairy, diseases in humans, how terrible the government is, our French camping neighbours, and how Australian aboriginals are treated. He told us the Aus government pays people $20M to kill all the kangaroos and when I asked why he said because the Roos eat grass and compete with the cows. The government wants us to eat beef because this causes cancer and they just built multi-billion dollar cancer facilities. Okay..? So bizarre. This was one of the first things he said to us. He is very opinionated and it is clear he actually doesn’t know what he’s talking about. For instance he said Roos do not get diseases like humans do. But then proceeded to tell us about how his one roo has mange. Lol. But won’t take it to the vet because “vets aren’t good people”.
To be honest my husband and I found it all very entertaining but definitely a little uncomfortable and strange as well. I almost said that I was a vet just to see what he’d say.
He was also telling my husband that he didn’t think the French guests that were our camp neighbours understood anything he said and the French people were right there. A little rude and presumptuous, my dude. My husband and I both thought he was cold and rude.
Anyway. Worth the stay if you really want to see kangaroos but be aware of the unsolicited conspiracy theories that will be unleashed on you if you’re in Gary’s presence. Gary, if you’re reading this, learn some interpersonal skills and thanks for caring for the Roos.

We stayed at the campground for one night and really enjoyed our stay there. It’s a quiet campground with not too many campers and a wonderful view. You can use a shared kitchen and toilets and showers.
Around the campground are living many kangaroos which where feeded by Garry in the mornings and evenings. We’ve seen around 20 kangaroos and Garry told us lots of interesting facts/information about them.
We can definitely recommend this campground!

I am unsure, there is a number on their website just give them a call. In my opinion I would say not suitable as the camp areas are very close to the edge with some steep drops.
In addition, the kangaroos, peacocks and other saved animals roam freely 24/7
