Drove in because the gate was open and a few cars. Didn’t have much expectation as I drive in as the line at the crossing was hopelessly overgrown. Much of it is in a state of ruin, buildings, carriages, everything. I don’t think this will ever reopen.

After years of barely having a heartbeat and progressing very little, the very short open section from Kunkala to Cabanda is shut.
I dropped in on Cabanda on Saturday to find the track almost overgrown and a couple of rotting carcasses in the siding.
This should be a success being close to Brisbane, in attractive scenery and with some potentially interesting stock.
I do not know the background as the website only mentions staffing problems.
I'd venture to say serious lack of money was more likely a bigger issue, as far from an example of preservation, sadly this has the character of a scrapyard.
If the ARHS expects to reopen, it needs to better communicate what's going on and get the line of a firmer financial footing.

We were Invited to ride on this Olde restored Rosewood
Railway Train and 100 year olde Wooden Passenger carriages.
We Absolutely loved the half Day Trip Back in Time.
Cheap Fares with Genuine Rail Tickets like 65 years Ago.
Ride through the Country Hills. Genuine Olde Trains and
Stations friendly Helpful Volunteer staff .Cafe , food Drinks .Toilets.
Well worth the Journey and Cheap too.
Railway Train and 100 year olde Wooden Passenger carriages.

Great place to go when stressed. It was going back to the FLYING FLEA from Charleville to Quilpie.. The smell of the fore burning. The steam and the noise were so obvious i travelled to Boarding School. i waited just to hear that engine. IT'S A TREASURE.... A NATIONAL TREASURE. GOVERNMENTS NEED TO FUND IT TOTALLY

We visited the Rosewood Railway Museum, and I am glad that we did. I had forgotten the sights and the smells and the memories of my youth. Yes, at 68 years of age, I can remember the 'steam era', well, and the trip to the Rosewood Railway Museum was the best way to get those memories to come flooding back to me.
At the time, our experiences were that of a normality that no longer exists, and we paid them little mind, but now those experiences are treasures, locked away in the recesses of our mind waiting for the trigger to bring them back to us. A trip to the Rosewood Railway Museum does just that.
From the lamps (on display) and the station-house, and the platform, and the tickets, and the posters, and the uniforms, and the wooden floors, and the toilets, and the connecting stage-coach, and the helpful volunteer staff - it all brings back those (personal) memories of experiences long forgotten.
My family didn't remember those times the way I did, but that didn't matter. Everyone has, and makes, their own memories, and without your memories, what have you got?

This Railway Museum is one of the hidden gems, their volunteers are friendly and provide a great service.
Their railway line is fairly short, however it has some of the best views from a railway line in Queensland can offer. Be sure to visit the Rosewood Railway Museum and support the ongoing efforts of the volunteers of such a great tourist attraction.

Just a huge magnet for our grand children, but great also for us older ones, with a train interest. The volunteers were wonderful and views from the top of the rail line were excellent. You need to go and see.

Very interesting. Informative. Lovingly restored engines and carriages. Nice little rail trip. Lovely day out for anyone young or young at heart. Highly recomend a visit.
