Great walk. Long version was about an extra km but well worth it! Great for family or couples. Bikes possible for part of the way

Parts of the walk are paved and easily accessible then the terrain changes and gets rocky and unsafe for older walkers especially in the canyon area but the scenery is worth the effort. You can cross the river on suspension bridges in several places and walk to and from Bright town centre.

We enjoyed this river loop walk in Bright adjacent to our beautiful accommodation at Merrimeet cottages. It’s a very picturesque walk, only took about an hour return, although you can extend it a lot further if you like.
Was pretty easy terrain, stunning clear water, and not too hilly. Signage along the way points out the various sluice spots and hand made gorges in the rock created by the gold miners in the 1880s when gold was discovered in the area.
Very similar to Arrowtown, New Zealand but a bigger town.

The Canyon walk is an easy hike between a couple of the bridges that cross the Ovens river. So there's river scenery, a bit of town scenery and some interesting historical sites as well.

Best seen when the water is at a lower level but amazing any time of the year. Numerous access points including from Howitt park. We stayed off Star Rd and we started the walk on the other side of the bridge. Seeing native Australian birds so close was a thrill for the kids. The raging ovens river was also mesmerising to see. You have a number of crossing and entry points for walk. Another spot we entered was next to Merrimeet cottages where a suspension bridge crosses river. If you visit bright you must check out this lovely walk

An interesting and varied walk. When wet there are some slippery and muddy spots. Info along the way. We started near the toilet block at Howitt Park and went all the way to the suspension bridge. It was a total of 4km and took us just over an hour.

This walk is within the Bright township and it follows the Ovens River. The bound is uneven in parts but not too challenging. The water is clear and the scenery is beautiful. There are bridges along the way and the path is easy to follow.

Well signposted walk beside Ovens River with remains of gold workings. Multiple swing bridges and memorials to the Chinese community

Lots of uneven ground so be prepared to wear hiking footwear, but well worth the effort. Very serene and scenic. Great pre-lunch warm up.

Thought I'd struggle but very happy with being able to get around the whole course. Was a nice day but probably wouldn't attempt it on a wet day.
