On a recent vacation to Wilmington Beach we took a morning to enjoy the very beautiful Arlie Gardens. We wandered among the peaceful, tranquil surroundings while having a front row seat to butterflies, birds, squirrels and water life. It was a spectacular spot and I am so glad I didn’t miss it!!

This has to be a visit while visiting the area! We had such a wonderful time walking and exploring the gardens. These hot days, I recommend an early morning visit. They had an 8am Birdwatching walking tour which sold out fast. The Butterfly House, historic Chapel, the beautiful oak trees were amazing!

It was worth the trip! Some really neat gardens to explore. Nostalgic to see some parts that were filmed in Dawson’s Creek. Didn’t mind paying the small fee to help support the gardens.

Azalea time! Tulips in bloom. Very beautiful well cared for gardens, Most of the paths are paved and handicapped accessible. The map given when you pay is so general it is almost worthless. There are signs, but they describe what to see without pointing you in the right direction. Be prepared for a lot of walking.

Amazing oaks, peaceful walk. Easy parking, no lines. Quiet. I realize it is out if season, but it was enjoyable and some things were in bloom. I do look forward to seeing it in bloom. Locals say March is fantastic.
Either way, the nearly 500 year old oaks will be there.

It was odd that the Christmas lights were still out but they stop turning them on even before Christmas. Strange! Very nice grounds for a relaxing walk. Wished we could have seen the butterflies.

The grounds are lovely, even in December. But you go for the trees. Breathtaking anytime of year. And be sure to take a ride on the trolly. The guides are packed with information (Ask about Keeping up with the Jones’!)

I'm a bird watcher. At home I participate in something called Feeder Watch each winter. So this place was for me. I was able to photograph several species I had not seen before.
The gardens are large and most of the trails are paved. For our visit, they also were decorated for their Christmas night-time light shows, but tickets - at least for the weekend we were there - were all sold out.
As a military retiree me it cost only $5.00 each for not only me, but also my wife. Regular adult admission is $10.00.
The only restrooms are at the gift shop/cashier, so beware if you intend to be there for several hours. They are clean.

There was no food for sale, but you can bring a picnic. Just be sure to leave the place as beautiful as you found it.

Yes, it is. It's not a "hilly" area and the walking paths are well-suited for strollers.

No, although the walking trails are wheelchair friendly, during my time there, I saw no indication of a handicap shuttle service.
