POOR FOOD EXPERIENCE

Everything closed except for the Stables Cafe. Food was passable but the burger comes without anything on the side. So by the time you add chips etc it’s an expensive mediocre plate. No heating in what was the cafe and horror of horrors - white plastic knives and forks! Very environmentally aware??? Sadly not. Food served in a black plastic basket as well. One has expectations when visiting the Manor and this falls woefully short. Staff pleasant and did their, let’s say, best but seemed to be untrained and unaware of where things were!!!! Poor experience and must, should do much better.

not so good this year

we are members and go to waddesdon at least once a year,this year i thought the light show was not as good,the show in the stables was very average,but the biggest disappointment was the lunch in the restaraunt,,,this was very poor,only a small choice of menu,a hour wait for food i could cook better,the apple desert was really sour ad that had a 40 minute wait,we were even asked if we wanted a hot drink whilst waiting,but after a 30 minute wait for a bottle of wine we declined,come on national trust,you really need to up your game and give far better food and service for what you charge

Lovely post Christmas/New year event at the Waddesdon Manor grounds. Brilliant Art light show and will be coming again for sure!

Disappointing

Usually we enjoy this annual event. However this year there was no Christmas Market, this was apparently shown on the website but was not obvious. We paid a large amount of money to see a light display. We will not go again and feel that different prices should be offered.

Additionally I will make it clear to all who ask that I do not rate this event worth going for the lights alone. Value for money zero, Christmas ambience 0.5

Christmas light trail, wet food

We went to Waddesdon Manor today for the Christmas light trail, taking our daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. It turned out to be a very wet day but we didnt want to let this spoil our trip, especially as it took more than an hour and a half to get there. The house was decorated with lovely trees and lights and it was great. We decided to have something to eat at the food village before starting the light trail, and the food was very good, but what wasnt good was that there was only one covered area to sit and eat which was quite a walk from the food village, by the time you got there even the food was wet. We were lucky enough to get a seat as someone was leaving but the food was wet and the grandchildren were both wet and cold, no outdoor heaters or indoor seating. I appreciate that there was food at the stables but we were told they were only serving fish and chips, no good when one of the family has a fish allergy. We discovered after eating that there were other options besides fish that we could have had, indoors at the stables, but it was too late by then.

Christmas light trail

As National Trust members this is a property we visit quite frequently but this was the first time to see the Christmas light trail. As we were fast approaching Christmas we opted to walk around the gardens to view the lights and not do the house tour. The pathways were well laid out with a variety of lights and themes on display. Probably spent about an hour and a half wandering around before having a festive drink from one of the many market stalls which were present. Nice way to spend an afternoon getting into the Christmas mood.

Unable to change ticket date

Was due to go and see Christmas lights when we tested positive for covid , I rang up to change dates a few days and was told no can’t do that ,when there where lots of free spaces ,I said I will have to come today then and hopefully no one will catch it ,there answer was ok then but I didn’t go
