Set in a beautiful park this is a seriously interesting cottage. I liked that a guide showed us around and explained quite a bit about the original inhabitants, their history and connection to Port Lincoln. The outside kitchen was an added interest. The volunteers obviously look after the place well too.

Very interesting place. Our guide is a wealth of knowledge about early settlers and the history of Port Lincoln. We were guided through history, and recognised items from our childhood.

It is pleasing to see such a complete collection of an early pioneering family though it is evident that they never experienced the hardships of most. At the time of my visit they were celebrating the150th anniversary of Mill Cottage, and I was accompanied by a guide who was very informative. There were several rooms displaying memorabilia of years gone past, and an added interest was visiting the outdoor kitchen. Wonderful water colour paintings also adorned the walls.

Amazingly, this historical cottage is not listed as one of the sites to see in Port Lincoln. The cottage is in Flinders Park and has been restored and filled with Bishop family treasures from around the1850's to the mid 1900's. The volunteers here give a great tour with stories about one of the first families of Port Lincoln....very enjoyable!!
