We had good time in Balukhand Wildlife Sanctuary.
There are many animals and birds.
Need to be careful.
Clean and maintain place

Great forest

The forest was sparse but lush-green and had a number of wild birds, monkeys and snakes. The trees were marked by their names and species. I loved the chirping on the tree tops and the buzzing of crickets.

Good place for spending quality time

Balukhand sanctuary was nice place for spending quality time with friends. There was many greenery. We have reached there with food.

Could not find a motorable road to venture inside

The Balukhand Wildlife Sanctuary is located between the Chandrabhaga beach near Konark and Puri. In fact, almost the entire stretch from Konark to Puri runs through Balukhand Wildlife Sanctuary. I have heard that deers inhabit that area. However, probably due to frequent traffic passing through the road, you can hardly spot any of them. There are sign all around for slow driving as animals are likely to cross the road. Sadly, the animals we encountered were stray dogs, cats, and cows, apart from some homo sapiens!

From Google Map we learnt that there is a place in the beach nearby where you can spot Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. However, while driving from Chandrabhaga beach to Puri, we could hardly find any motorable road going down towards our left, so we could not venture into the jungle. Maybe next time we should walk and venture inside the jungle to encounter some wild animals as well as the Olive Ridley sea turtles!

Cool Drive

Between Konark and Puri this small jungle is mostly filled with back waters and very rarely animals pass through but the small drive passing between this area and the sea gives a cool feel.

Beautiful Sanctuary

Balukhand Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful place to visit as a family. The kids love this place. The place is neat and tidy. Very calm and peaceful for picnics. The nature is very beautiful. The whole place and the surroundings are green. Many specious of birds and animals seen here.

Balukhand wildlife sanctuary is located in a nice & calm place between Puri & Konark by the sea. The forest is not very dense & would be difficult to spot any animals apart from deers.
