We stayed there in September 2022 the cottage was well equipped, warm and welcoming. we had every thing we needed for a weeks stay. Our bicycles could be stored in the adjacent shed and we had room for visitors cars. Living in the shadow of the working lighthouse made us curious and although the charity had ceased open days for the season we were able to climb up and visit in detail thanks to the kindness of the occupier in cottage no. 1 we made a donation to the charity. There was miles of undisturbed virtual traffic free cycling around the narrow lanes of the Norfolk countryside and no shortage of places to visit. A must is tea and scones at the café in Walcott facing the sea. We hope to return.

We visited Happisburgh to take a look at the lighthouse which stands in a very photogenic location surrounded by beautiful fields.
Whilst in the village we looked at a site of major sea erosion which was so sad & also concerning.
Our pronunciation of Happisburgh was totally wrong! It’s actually is nothing like it might appear by it’s spelling…this caused some amusement by the locals!

This lighthouse is so iconic, and if you're lucky enough to be nearby when there's an Open Day I strongly recommend you visit it! The stairs up to the top aren't too tricky, but be aware the staircase spirals round the inside of the lighthouse, so if you're not great with heights like that, do what I do and face the wall as you go up and down! it's definitely worth it for the views!
During Open Days there's a little gift shop area at the bottom of the steps inside, and it's all run by the Friends of Happisburgh Lighthouse to raise funds to keep this fantastic lighthouse running!

We enjoyed an excellent and informative tour of the lighthouse which is well worth a visit, especially when it is a clear day.

We booked a private tour and had the most wonderful time with Geoff and Jenny who were our wonderful, enthusiastic and passionate guides. Nothing was too much trouble and my little boy throughly enjoyed the experience. There was a nice selection of bits and pieces available to purchase at the bottom, as a memory of the visit. The views were amazing! I would highly recommend a private tour.

Such a friendly reception, the staff were great. Quite a climb to the top, but once up there a great view and I was convinced I could see the curvature of the horizon. Cheerful guide too.

Lucky enough to visit on an open day, so able to go inside, learn about the history and how vitally important the deep water channel is to all shipping. Amazing views from the top.

Excellent tour to learn more local history and the lighthouse. The view from the lighthouse was great and enough time to rest and explore.

We visited the lighthouse on their first opening since 2019, it felt safe, welcoming, and the volunteers were wonderful.
The climb up to the first level was manageable, an informative talk about the history and purpose of the lighthouse then endured, before the final steep climb to the light. The views out into the North Sea are great too.
Definitely recommend a visit for those not afraid to climb and look out from the 26m platform.

Cottage is better than the photos. It's really dog friendly, has excellent WiFi and the beach is beautiful. The local pub is great and very friendly. So also is the lighthouse keeper next door.
