Came with a group of youth to practice for an casual sports event coming up. Lots of space, great condition equipment.

As other comments allude, this was built as an athletic stadium & has excellent facilities for athletics. This includes a good indoor facility 60m track long/tripe jump, high jump & pole vault areas as well as indoor shot put.
For football, the goal end temporary stands allow spectators closer to the pitch action than say West Ham have at the Olympic stadium.

The football on show is always great watch chelmsford city are great to watch, sadly though it's athletics stadium an would love to see them moved on to elsewhere but it's still great to watch even behind the goal. Not many athletic stadiums have terracing behind the goals.

As an athletics stadium for which it was built absolutely perfect. As a football ground not so. There is a magnificent stand for this level of football but it is set behind the running track and the jump pits. Then just to make it worse the portable dug outs block the near touchline as well. On the opposite side is the stand built for the athletics which provides cover and is closer to the pitch with only the running lanes between. However it is only three rows deep for the most part so it is better to stand than sit. At either end are two metal terraces one covered which can house 250 people or more. In contrast to the distant views from the side these stands almost encroach on the pitch and it must be quite unnerving for goalkeepers which i assume is the intention. In general it is a clean facility and well looked after but a football ground it is not

This is quite a small stadium as you can expect. They not only play football here but it is used for other competition athletics games. This is where the school teams from around Chelmsford and surrounding areas come to complete. I was even present when they filmed a series of TOWIE there, so it's used well. There is plenty of car parking and an attached gym which is used by some of the junior British athletics team.

Melbourne Stadium's car park attendants really shouldn't plonk a 'Full' board in the approach road when there are still 10 or 12 spaces. It could give the impression that fans aren't welcome.
We've been seven times this season and haven't seen our local team win yet, but we're patient souls ...
We don't like the absence of atmosphere - caused by the dreaded athletics track encircling the pitch - but there's the greasy spoon on wheels which serves good burgers, a comfortable clubhouse, the camaraderie of fellow-sufferers and a mighty grandstand from which you can easily view the Clarets playing their distinctive brand of rush-and-fall-over.
Come on City!

The Stadium is the homer of Chelmsford City FC who play in the Conference Soputh league. The facilities for spectators are good with mobile hot food van, aclub house with Bar and large areas of spectator viewing of games. Car parking can be a problem but early arrival is suggested. Crowd behaviour is excellent and would have no hesitation of taking children to watch games. The Stadium is also an Athletics venue through out the summer months

I regularly use the Gymnasium at Chelmsford Sports & Athletics Centre which forms part of Melbourne Stadium. The facilities are well run by Leisure Plus where the staff & trainers are very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended for Indoor & Track facilities which are well used by the local and surrounding communities.
