I went to watch Steel Magnolias tonight at The palace theatre and it was fantastic! An amazing cast that excelled themselves. I was always a fan of Lucy speed but her accent and performance was out of this world. The whole cast were gripping and by the end I was in tears. What a performance from some amazing actresses. Well worth a watch . I would go and watch it again. I love Palace theatre. An intimate theatre that allows you to enjoy their productions. Thank you for a great night! Well done ladies!!!

Watched 'When Darkness Falls' yesterday evening and enjoyed every minute of this spine chilling tale. If you enjoy stories and the interweaving of imagination and experience, you should enjoy this. Thoroughly recommend.

I visited this theatre today with the Cinema Theatre Association.The area is lucky to have such a fine theatre to serve it.There seem to be surprisingly few similar theatres in the area..The seats are comfortable,the sightlines good with a good mix of shows.

We purchased the tickets for some Mothers Do Ave Em over two years ago but due to the pandemic the show was rescheduled for yesterday (16th July).
The Palace Theatre is a small Victorian Theatre in Westcliff On Sea. Parking is available nearby.
On arrival at reception the Theatre was packed with theatre goers at tables with their drinks before the show.
Having grown up with Michael Crawford as Frank Spencer I didn't know what to expect with Joe Pasquale taking the lead role. However from start to finish it was just a laugh a minute and some of the scenes in the show were taken from the original BBC episodes. The show lasts for approx two hours with an interval in between. The supporting cast were brilliant too. Great nostalgic show for people who remember the original Some Mothers Do Ave Em.

The show I saw at The Palace, Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em, last night has taken the mantle of the worst show I have ever seen. As a regular theatre visitor, i have seen some real dross but this reached a real low. Joe Pasquale may have rescued it, instead we suffered the understudy, Ben Watson. I can give credit to Susie Blake who was excellent and even the other actors were acceptable. However, giving Ben Watson this role was a complete disaster. No one expected a Michael Crawford impression but without a strong lead, this play is going to fail.

Where to start; No joe Pasquale ; ill;( wish you better Joe;) but we were disappointed with the replacement Ben Watson; not what we paid €76.00 for.
Ben had no Frank mannerisms ; he was very amateur; the show wasn’t funny and we left at half time, along with few more couples.
We did inquire about the t heater s policy to refund money as the show is actually advertising this as a Joe Pasquale lead role show, but told show is advertised as just “some mother do av em” therefore you don’t get refund for seeing an amateur for £76.00; this was a treat for us this evening; and felt this policy is wrong.
The theatre inside is in poor condition; paper and paint pealing from the walls; a very disappointing evening; will not be returning to this theatre.

First time visiting. Was quite nice. Not as good as the cliffs but I’d go again. Clean and tidy. Was absolutely packed in the reception area.

Last night (2nd March) my husband and I visited the Palace Theatre in Southend to see Blake what a fabulous evening it was. They were so entertaining they sung truly wonderful and chatted with the audience in between songs. Never seen them before but will go to see them again.

Hello. Thinking of parking at Hamlet Court Road for the theatre, but I notice from the car park's website that the parking charges are only up until 1800hrs. As my car will be there for several hours after that time is it safe to leave it there? i.e. won't be clamped or removed?

We parked at hamlet Court Road car park. We got there at 7 and was free to park.
Couldn't advise on eating as we ate at hotel

Hi, I'm thinking of coming in November but there are only gallery seats for the show I want and there are 64 steps to the gallery. Is there a handrail? I could manage as long as there was a handrail to hold on to all the way.

Is row a in front stalls a good seat for a small 6yr old. Think seats 8 and 9 which is an aisle seat?

Hi Gail,
I’d say row ‘A’ should be fine for a 6 year old. They would be nice a close in full view of the stage. It is a bit of a look up however.
When we went we were in the front row with no complaints.
I’m not sure or the seat numbering or locations. I’m sure if you have a look on their website a diagram of the seat locations will be a available.

There is a carpark 500m further into southend on the left by the next set of lights. There is also a nice italian restaurant 'azzuros' a further 50m on past the lights on the right. Hope this helps.
