It's friendly however the wine should be front of house. Every time customers ask for a drink they have to run into back room. It takes ages to get served. If the bar was front of house then I couldn't fault this place. Staff are very friendly

Hi Jane.
I'm sorry you felt we were deserving of one star. We listen to our feedback, and we have now installed a new bar, with undercounter fridges, meaning that all drinks are now made front of house.
We have also refitted our kitchen, this has enabled us to provide hot food, Tapas.
Please do return, I'm sure you will approve of our new layout.

We have been here twice now for our lgbt group social meet ups. Been made to feel very welcome both times and very well looked after. Both the owners are great and have a good knowledge of wines and ports. They do a cheese and meat plater which is very nice but if you want something hot they are happy for you to order from a good choice of local take aways and will supply you with plates and cutlery. Drink wise if you want something they haven’t got they will go out and get it. But as I said we are a LGBT group so it is great to find somewhere to feel comfortable and made to feel so welcome. Well done guys keep up the good work and see you soon. Steve x

Great little gem hidden away.
If you want a nice vibe, good cheese and wine with a welcoming and friendly ambience, this is the right place.

My Sister and I brought our Mum (plus 2 kids) here for a special Mothers Day afternoon tea. We were received really warmly, the staff could not do enough for us. For the price what we got was incredible. It was all lovely and fresh, tasty & a great choice. Great setting with a lovely cheerful atmosphere. I can't wait to go again!

Absolutely cracking every visit. It’s not always me and her indoors I sometimes go with the lads and we always thoroughly enjoy. Liam spends time to explain the elements important to enjoying a good wine. We have a short attention span but give us our due, we keep going back. A thirst for learning possibly lol.

We have been to Vintner & Mason a number of times now and you are always guaranteed a warm welcome and great wine. Liam really knows his wine and suggests a bottle to meet your taste and budget. The wines here are sourced by Liam and always taste better than any I have bought from a supermarket.
Some Sundays there is a wine tasting event where you get to sample 6-8 wines along with matching nibbles, great fun.
Vintner & Mason is not pretentious and the wines are great value, a little quiet gem in Sun Street.

Love using this bar come coffee resting place! One can relax with a cappuccino & a book or have friends and a bottle of wine in the evening. You but your wine and pay corkage. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A great concept

What a gorgeous little gem of a place. Ambience delightful and staff very friendly and helpful. Delicious wines at very reasonable prices. Will definitely go there again (soon!).

Waltham Abbey needed somewhere like this for such a long time.....am so happy that this opened. A gorgeous relaxing space with lovely wines and platters with background music. Liam and Sifa and superstars, know exactly how to look after people and do a great job. I recently held a baby shower here and it couldn't have been more perfect, we were looked after brilliantly and the home made scones were to die for. Me and my boyfriend are here very often and couldn't recommend it more- whether it's for a chilled out after work drink, drinks ahead of a night out on a weekend or a special occasion it's great for all. See you soon guys! ❤️
