always closed someone working in the garden of it told me that it needed maintenance work doing and did not know when it would be open we checked everyday for 2 weeks and always closed . He was very abrupt with me so even if it had been open sometime when we were there i would not have gone. There is no need to be rude especially to potential visitors

Kids were really looking forward to this but it seemed always to be closed, there were no opening times available, and locals said they couldn't remember when it was last open. Massive shame - looked great from the outside and the kids wanted to learn about it as they had been covering the Tudors at school.

Was closed on Easter saturday WTF?? Anyhow got a snap for my daughter who loves all things Tudor, but it does need some TLC quick :-(

My daughter has been studying the Tudors at school, remembering my own school days and learning about the Tudors and visiting the Tudor house as a child, we went to see it today. Unfortunately the house was closed although all advertising advised to the contrary. We noted 2 other parties attempt to visit will looking round the garden. What a shame to miss out :-(

A pretty house and gardens. A volunteer gave me plenty of info on the building's history (probably more than I needed!). A visit can be completed in 30 minutes.

My friend and I were in Margate for the weekend and walked past the house a couple of times so earmarked it to visit.
We went in around 11.30 on Sunday 13th February with full intention to pay the visiting price advertised on the door. There was an exhibit on the left before the rest of the house behind the till through the other doorway so we had a look in there before we went through to pay.
However we were ushered out by the staff member/volunteer on duty who told us how much it was to get in. When we didn’t immediately reply (as we were in a gift shop area so I was looking at the things in there) he said ‘hello?’ sarcastically. I tried to reply to say ‘oh we were just looking in this bit before we paid to go through to the rest of the house’ but he cut me off and told we pay or get out. That attitude put us off paying to go in and so we promptly left. My friend muttered a comment about him being rude and he said “you’re rude for not paying for coming in” which was not at all our intention. If you want people to pay as soon as they come in the house you should put up signs or put the till closer to the door.
We were looking forward to looking around, but with such a hostile host, we didn’t want to spend any more time there.

I took some friends to see the house (I'd been before and had a great visit). But sadly we didn't get the same experience this time.
Whilst I appreciate the house is run by volunteers and they give up their time to staff it, the grumpy, abrupt attitude of the man on duty on 23 October didn't make for a pleasurable visit. In fact 4 of our party didn't get past the payment desk because he was so rude. The 2 that did go in were not given any information about the building or its history and were in and out in about 10 minutes. Their feedback was they were made to feel their visit was a hindrance to this particular person. This is such a shame as it is a great place to visit and with the right person showing you around it's well worth going to as it really is delightful. However, the lady who was volunteering upstairs did make them feel welcome and was informative.

Best little tudor building to see in the country. A must visit for those who are in Margate.We were very tall in comparison to the size of it!!

We loved this ancient tudor house. A real gem, but it appears that Margate doesn't appreciate what it has. They are struggling to keep it open even with volunteers. Come on Margate it is a treasure.

Hiya, I worked in The Tudor House as a volunteer.
It's two floors with stairs inside and out the back so it's not very wheelchair friendly as it's a medieval building.
The parking however, there is none for the Tudor House anymore but there is a poundstretcher across the road from it where you can park or at the college walk where morrison is.
