Lovely place went to go mountain bike riding yesterday but on arrival nobody was at the rental bike store after waiting 10 mins and following instruction To press bell for attention we quickly realised nobody was going to assist us despite it being open and a dog sat there.
I asked a nice young lady at the cafe who phoned the bike guy but was told he was out off site and wouldn't be back for couple of hours after already paying for the car park for 2 hours we decided to make the most of our time there and had a nice walk after seeing the trails decided to go back today for bike rental but just phone up to be told no bikes for rent today as the person in charge isn't in disappointing we are only in the area for 4 days so won't get another chance now

It is always a pleasure to enjoy a walk at Hicks Lodge. We did decide to become a member. This involves a £40 fee but parking is then free and we are happy to pay to help the site to be maintained. You can enjoy the different seasons doing the different walks.

Great cycling for the kids the track is fairly short took kids about 1 hour to do blue route. The play park is a little bit poor. My children 9, 10 & 11 they spent 20 mins in there. All in all 2 hour trip for £6 parking, Cafe quite expensive.

We often visit here on a weekend with the dog who enjoys a swim but I also pay a visit here with friends and my baby. The route is easy to navigate and you don’t get lost easily. Cafe is great and offers great selection or cakes and drinks and lunch. Car park does get incredibly busy and I feel that due to there being no parking lines lots of people park ridiculously and waste 2 spaces or more!

Came late evening to try out the trails when it was quiet as I’m not confident on my bike. Plenty of parking and the trails are well maintained. There is a bike shop/hire and a cafe but I didn’t use these. Looking forward to beating my time around the trail next time

Plenty of parking available and a great cafe on-site with toilets and a bike hire company.
We indulged in the Gruffalo trail which was just short of a mile around the lake. Post lunch at the cafe we hired some bikes and hit the trails. The person manning the bike hire is brilliant and gave us some tips of what to do. We handled the toughest trail which took us a good hour even though it was only 4.5 miles long. The bike hire is pretty flexible and the bikes are in fantastic condition.
The play area near the cafe is perfect for the kids to spend an afternoon at.
There’s plenty to do … walking, hiking, biking. So plan your day well.

Relaxing area to visit with the dog. We went for a walk around the pond and we enjoyed the surrounding nature, along the way.
There’s a cute little lodge that has a cafe, toilet facilities for disabled persons and even a bike repair shop. It also includes benches outside to enjoy a drink before heading out for your walk or going back to the car.

Really great place to visit.
Not too busy, lovely walk for little legs.
Cafe is first rate, great cakes, coffee and snacks.
Highly recommend.
Parking is just £6 all day

We're an active family of 5 ( kids 14, 12). Hired bikes from Grounds and followed all the trails for almost 3 hours! The blue trail was the longest with little humps and berms, which we really enjoyed- done the trails a couple of times each, they're well marked, not too hilly, space to stop and have a break/ picnic. Bikes were in good condition, helmets included and staff were helpful and friendly.
You can do walks too! Seen a poster for a gruffalo trail.
The centre has a cafe, toilets , playground etc to hang around.
Parking was £2/ hour, £4/2 hours and £6 for any length of time after that.
Would we return? Yes!
