A place where time stands still!! A haven of peace & tranquility. If you love waterfalls this is a must visit. The cafe staff are absolutely amazing. The cakes are delicious and you will definitely be blown away by the waterfalls and want to come back again.

We were looking for a short activity to kill time. This was perfect. The walk is suitable for most levels of fitness and is surprisingly flat. It is a mix of woodland and waterfall full of spring nature. Ideal for dog walking and families although we rarely saw another soul. We were treated to wild, noisy waterfalls off the back of heavy snow fall. A lovely way to spend an hour. Check out the craft studio and shop by the tea rooms. Well worth a visit too!
WATCHOUT! The woodland is full of dog mercury and cuckoo pint. Watch pets and children.

Lovely to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Aysgarth Falls. A great time to come after the heavy snowfall making the falls particularly spectacular. Aysgarth Falls is lovely to visit at any time of the year so we hope you will come and see us again soon. Thank you for visiting.

These falls are stunning, there’s an information centre to park, pee and shop at so start there. On the bridge is a tea room that has the best Scotch Eggs and Pork Pies but the real bonus is to download the Yorkshire Dales walking app which gives you two options, amongst many others. I would recommend blocking a day for the long one (6 hard miles) to the West Burton falls which are equally as spectacular

Thank you for your review and good to hear that you saw the falls at their best! It is a lovely walk from Aysgarth to West Burton with the added bonus of seeing Cauldron Force in West Burton and possibly Dippers on Bishopdale beck.
Thank you for visiting.

Paid £5 for the car park at the visitor centre which has a cafe, toilets and a shop.
(Was less for 2 hours but we didn't know how long we would walk for)
Maps are available in the visitor centre for free and the trails are clearly marked (with distance and estimated times)
We walked to the middle and lower falls which was a nice way path.
The first viewpoint you come to is really not far from the car park and it's a really nice view of the falls.
A short walk further on the path gets you to the lower falls which are also impressive.
We did choose to climb down the optional path to the left of the lower viewpoint (only a 2 minute path down between rocks that were easy to navigate) which took us to the very bottom of the falls for some even better views.
Back to the car park and then to the other end to take the short path to the high falls. Not as impressive as far as falls go, but still very impressive scenery and again so close to the car park.
We then stopped at the café for a hot chocolate and ice cream. Overpriced as expected due to the location but still very nice.
Highly recommend, especially for non walkers as the falls are really not far from the car park and offer amazing views.

Good to hear that you had such a lovely visit. Always good to end the day with a hot chocolate!
The walk to the falls is, as you say, ideal for non walkers as it is a short walk to see all three waterfalls and, if you are lucky, some of our local wildlife whilst walking through Freeholders Wood to the middle and lower falls.
Thank you for your review and for visiting Aysgarth Falls.

Beautiful! Listening to the power of the water is incredible. Little picnic benches which will be lovely on a summers day. A short walk downhill from the car park of The Falls cafe and shop but very steep though short uphill walk back. Just to be mindful for those that struggle as my mum certainly would. I am sure there must be other car parks though. Can’t wait to visit again.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Your feedback is much appreciated. If you do visit again there is the Yorkshire Dales National Park car park which if you come down Church Bank is over the bridge at the upper falls and then on the left. This gives much easier access to al three waterfalls. Our parking charges are currently £3.00 for up to two hours (visitors with a blue badge get an extra hour) and £5.00 for all day. We look forward to seeing you again soon and thank you for visiting.

At about nine on a January morning we had the whole carpark to ourselves. £3 for two hours is a bit steep but the toilets were open and freshly cleaned which was a bonus.
The falls were just great - plenty of ice on the rocks but if you took care where you put your feet there were some good views to be had and all to ourdelves.
On our return the carpark was thronged wit three other cars.

Thank you very much for your comments regarding your recent visit to Aysgarth Falls. Early on a January morning can be a wonderful time to visit because, as you found, it is quieter and therefore more peaceful and a better chance of seeing some of the local wildlife. We are sorry that you found our car parking charges a little on the high side but the money gained from this does go towards the maintenance of the area which makes it more pleasant for our visitors and the local community. Thank you for visiting and we hope to see you again soon.

A nice little walk up and down the falls to end a weekend away. The hardest part of the walk was from the top car park down to the falls.
It was nice to see a Dipper flying around the water.

The falls are beautiful but not very well advertised for such famous falls, there is a cafe and gift shop right at the top with the first car park I would not recommend this cafe, if you follow the road down to the falls there is a much nicer tearooms and craft shop opposite the falls and these are both closer to the falls and the tourist information centre. The falls are beautiful and highly worth a visit.

This natural attraction is quite splendid and is worth a visit but beware to wear suitable shoes as it is quite muddy this time of year (November). Although there is car parking for disabled walking to the upper falls is very challenging for someone with walking difficulties. We met an elderly couple who couldn't make it to the falls due to the challenging pathway. After seeing the upper falls we decided against attempting to see the middle and lower falls. Our stay was therefore just 30 mins.

Thank you very much for your comments regarding your recent visit to Aysgarth Falls. We are pleased that you enjoyed seeing the upper falls which are quite spectacular at the moment.
For our visitors who maybe don't walk as well as others we do recommend the middle falls which are 230 metres from Aysgarth Falls National Park Visitor Centre car park. Aysgarth Falls is an entirely natural environment and visitors are advised to take care and wear appropriate footwear. Our parking charges are £3.00 for up to two hours, but our visitors with a blue badge do get an extra hour hopefully giving ample time to visit the falls.
Thank you for visiting Aysgarth Falls and we hope to see you again.

An incredible display of the sheer power of nature, but sadly that is where the wonder ends.
Although the visitors centre is fairly reasonable for such a principal location, the toilets facilities are poor, the parking is expensive, and your even encouraged to give yet more via an honesty box at the gate into the falls area.
Only to then find that dispute a few general park like benches and tables, in the grass areas by the falls. Anything else such as defined gravelled pathways, or any form of health safety signs, barriers etc are sadly not to be found.
If you visit on a day when it’s been raining then be very very careful, the rocks around the water having been worn smooth by the countless visitors are extremely slippery, and given the woefully inadequate level of investment put into the site, potential accidents are everywhere.
Sadly the possibility to enjoy time at such an amazing and famous location is ruined by a overall lack of investment and forethought.

Hello Stephen, thank you for your review. We are pleased that you have enjoyed the natural spectacle of the sight.
We are sorry that you thought the car parking to be expensive. The income from this does, however, go towards maintaining the natural qualities of the area.
The upper falls and honesty box are privately owned by a local farmer who very kindly allows our visitors access.
Aysgarth Falls is an entirely natural environment and visitors are advised to take care and wear appropriate footwear. We do try and avoid too much signage as it can detract from the natural beauty of the area.
We hope to see you again at Aysgarth and thank you for visiting.

There is a gate but didn't see if it was locked , maybe check online or drop them an email before going , if you are parkingxat the visitor centre it does get busy and when we were there they had to close it as it was full.

Is this suitable for someone in a wheelchair ? We obviously can’t take a massive walk but could we maybe see the falls from a wheelchair access point?

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. The middle falls are accessible to those using a wheelchair. You will then be able to continue through Freeholders Wood, which is very pretty at the moment with the Spring flowers, but you will not be able to access the lower falls due to a number of steps. If you do decide to visit Aysgarth Falls please call into the Visitor Centre where the staff will be able to advise you. Please also make sure you park your car at Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre as this gives easier access to the middle falls and disabled parking bays are available. Parking is £2.50 for two hours but visitors with a blue badge have three hours. Hope you enjoy your visit.

The dogs fine, but use the baby carrier the paths have gradients and rocks that make getting anywhere with a pram difficult. Enjoy the trip it's a great place to visit
