Sometimes the things you book last minute are just perfect.
The Segway Experience at Sherwood Go Ape to which our family went today was just that.
This was in no small part down to our instructor; Dimitri being incredibly informative, professional and attentive. Most of all he made the whole experience incredibly fun for all of us.
It began on time, he established none of us had "Segway'd" before and proceeded with a very necessary safety briefing and detailed overview of how we could get the most out of the Segways during our visit. Once satisfied we were all ready to hit the forest trails, we were off!
A gentle start saw us enter a quieter path whereupon he told us he was happy with our control of the Segways and changed all our settings into "race" mode 🏁... Well at least that's what it felt like having the speed restriction lifted to the heady speeds of 12mph! More than enough I can assure you.
With our group being just the 3 of us and Dimitri, he stopped to check on us enough but not excessively and about half way round asked whether we wanted to stick with the scenic route or try the more challenging pathways and routes- we opted for the latter and it definitely made the experience for us.
No one wanted it to end after being out for a good hour after the safety briefing, and as a way to see the forest it was brilliant. Totally worth every penny and as we've said, our instructor was a credit to Go Ape, we'll certainly return.

Go ape experience was excellent. The course was challenging but we did all 4 sections and got more confident as we went. The safety briefing was good and we felt safe at all times.
The car parking on top of the go ape fee was extortionate at £9.50 for 2.5 hours. Total rip off which spoilt the visit a little. Really enjoyed the ropes, just a shame the parking is designed to rip you off.

Booked an impromptu Forest Segways experience today and wow what an amazing time. We have been on the Segways a few times and this is the best one yet! A HUGE thank you to our guide Dimitri (sorry if I have spelt that wrong) for looking after us and taking us on some amazing and challenging trails. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Great day out loved every minute. Great value for money.
The only issue was having no staff member with us all of the time. We had a few issues and other users were giving advice due to no staff being available. This caused us all Great anxiety especially as this was a high risk activity

We visited GoApe for my 30th Birthday and it was super! Our instructor Honey was so lovely, enthusiastic and supportive. We did the Challenge Plus as we have done other courses in the past but always opted for the easier routes. It was great to try all the new types of crossings. The Tarzan swing is my favourite as you really just have to take a leap of faith. Thank you to the team!

Have been to 3 activities here now - took my youngest & 2 friends for the nets adventure in 2020 for a covid/outdoor birthday ‘party’, and have done the segways twice; once with family and once alone. Staff have always been lovely, friendly, helpful and great at keeping us all safe. When my youngest was scared to go very fast on the segways, one of our two guides was so kind and understanding and stayed behind with us, taking us round a slower and less challenging route. I went again today on my own and the chap who was guiding us was lovely too. It was great fun going through the trees! The thing I’ve knocked a point off for is the price. It is very expensive, and the parking is extortionate! I know the money raised does help the Forestry Commission look after the forest, but you’d think if you’re paying £40 a head to do an activity they would throw in free parking, or at least give you a reduced rate!

I visited Go Ape Sherwood Nottingham, with my 10 years old son, as he wanted to try the Challenge adventure. Booked online and it costed £38 for each. That wasn't enough for them. On top of tickets price they charged £3 for "service fees". That still wasn't enough for them. They charged me £11 for parking. We will not go back to any Go Ape location. There are alternatives which offer similar activities without overcharging their own customers.

GREAT!! I went for my 13th birthday with two friends. We did the Treetop Challenge, and it was amazing! All the staff were helpful and kind, and the course itself was challenging, but also fun! The best part was the 3rd level! It was terrifying but sooo fun! The zip line at the end, it was an amazing reward. It only took us about an hour! I would definitely recommend and go back x

Dmitry made this day for us. My partner booked the treetop adventure as a surprise and it’s something I would usually be far too nervous to even attempt but it was great for pushing me out of my comfort zone! We didn’t feel rushed and Dmitry was so lovely and supportive to make sure we made the most of it. I would recommend this activity to anyone, especially people who are usually scaredy cats like me!

Storms go ape didn't cancel absolutely freezing torrential rains no lights as kept going out kids petrified.
Absolutely auful experience.

HI,
My little one is 6 yrs and 117cm tall. The minumum height is 120cm for Adventure plus and 6 years. I don't want her to do a different course when everyone else is doing Adventure plus
Do they physically measure each of the trekkers for height?

Personally I didn’t see any measuring equipment/scales etc. If your little one, in your opinion, would be safe doing the activity I would go for it.

Adult in Go Ape requires one supervising adult per 2 underage (younger than 16) children. Go for junior

Bum bags are fine but not sure about phones as I was to scared to even put my hands in my pockets. But seriously I am not sure on the phones.

Do we pay at the gate or on line and how much is it 2 adults 1 child 8 years old.

You really need to book online as it does get busy at peak times. In terms of pricing, it depends on which course you do. But for the smallest adventure, I think it is £18 per person, and for the adventure + (you have to be 1.2m tall) that is £22 per person

no age limit only weight.. its upto you to decide if youre fit and well enough for it as they hold no responsibility for any injuries ect

Thanks for the question Rod. It all depends on the activity - we have four different activities at Sherwood Pines. Tree Top Adventure and Forest Segway are for those over the age of 10. Height and weight restrictions also apply. Tree Top Junior and Nets Kingdom are for those over 1 metre tall. More info can be found in the FAQs section on our website. Thanks for the question and for thinking of us. Historically our forest doors are open daily April to October. We're also open throughout November weekends. Hope this helps and we see you for an adventure soon!

forest for dogs and their owners. Your four legged friends are more than welcome, all we ask is for owners to be responsible
and to keep their dogs under control. Please do not allow
your dog to foul in the main forest centre or play and picnic areas and always dispose of dog waste in the bins provided.

I am taking my 14 year old daughter and her friend also 14 to Sherwood. I am a little confused as the faq state that adult supervising can stay on the ground for 14/15 year olds but when booking it states 10-15 year olds must have a participating adult. I would rather not join in (daughter says I will be embarrassing 😃). Can you confirm before I book. Thanks

Thanks for the question above and for thinking of us. If you're looking to book our original Tree Top Adventure, a 2-3 hour experience, 10-15 year olds do require a supervising and participating adult with them in the tree-tops. If you're looking to book Tree Top Junior, then adults can supervise from the ground for anyone over the age of six. Hope this helps and we see you for an adventure soon!
