So pleased I made the effort to get up early one morning to do this. It took a total of an hour to walk from my base in East Brent and 20 minutes from the church. It is quite steep, but even for me who is not the fittest, it was still worth it for the views from the top. It even provided me a sense of achievement getting to the summit.

A National Trust site and fantastic vantage point. If the weather conditions are good, it's possible to see Hinkley Point and Brean Down in the distance.
You can get halfway to the summit on a paved road, which is quite doable with a mountain bike. The second half is a narrow footpath that is unsuitable for bicycles. There are actually 2 ascend paths, one from the west starting at a farmhouse, and one from the north. The western path is fairly steep and had some steps at the end, so proper hiking footwear is advisable. Don't forget to bring a photo camera! It's very windy at the summit so bring a sweater if it's a chilly day.

Known by the Romans as the Mount of Frogs, it was also known as Frog Island. There must have been a lot of frogs around in those days, or even before, as there was an Iron Age fort on the top. These days you can find archaeologists and scientists at work. We only got halfway up this time, having got to the top a while back. Beautiful place, lovely houses circling the base of the Knoll. Definitely a special place, one to visit as soon as possible!

We parked off road (not much parking available) and walked up the Knoll. It's a bit steep in places and I was glad I was wearing sturdy shoes. Some steps and some slopes. When you get to the top, it's well worth it. On a clear day you can see the Somerset Levels and across to the Bristol Channel. There is a short circular walk around the summit and this is a beautiful walk. In Summer there are lots of wild flowers to see. Allow a couple of hours to do this at a leisurely pace.

great walk up the hill, loved it, such an amazing place and 360 views. we went up with all our kids and loved it. Amazing spot on top , really can see the fort remains. Climbed up a few times in the week. BRILL

This was our 4th stop on our day tour of the Somerset 360s so the legs were getting a little tired but it wasn't an overly challenging climb. Tried to park on St Michaels church but it was signed as church Parking only, so followed the road around and. parked on the side of the road, just into the residential area. From there, its a short walk back up to the church and the public footpath starts to the right of it or can be accessed through the church yard. The start of the walk is fairly easy and well-sign posted. The final climb was very steep and the muddiest of the day. Walking boots is a definite. View from the top was as amazing as all the others, but a very slidey walk down.

We visited with no expectations - we'd seem it from the motorway and said 'that must be a hill fort' and so it turned out to be.
We parked near Brent Knoll church and joined the footpath through a gate at the top of the churchyard. The walk is steepish in places but not for long and well worth it. Once up there it is an obvious place to build your settlement as you can see for miles in all directions. Glastonbury Tor is clear from up there.
A great diversion for an hour in the countryside.

We found it quite difficult to find the starting point and used Google maps but this led us the wrong way. After asking for directions we managed to find the correct route. It was very steep as we neared the summit with tiny little steps. When up though the views were stunning. We could see in all directions and it was quite magnificent. We managed to find another route down which was very muddy and slippery. This bought us out a long way from our car but it was a pleasant walk back.

Fantastic walk to the top, steep in places but well worth every step, the views from the top were amazing . Sun shining which was a bonus .😎

Drove all the way around, couldn’t find where you are meant to park or where you start the walk from.
Google and even the question on here just give vague descriptions about parking by a church (of which there are 3) lanes and paths- in 2019 just after an address or post code for where to start from.

If you travel along the main road through Brent Knoll, between the pub and the the church is a road then a lane and then it turns into a path that goes up to the hill... its easy to find and the walk is about an hour......
