The ruins of the 18th century church of St Michael are at the top of a steep hill overlooking the Somerset Levels. It has a memorial plaque to those men of Somerset who died in the two World Wars. It is well worth the climb to get a panoramic view over the levels, particularly when they are flooded. The floodwater attracts a variety of waterfowl and waders. There is a small, free car park at the bottom of the hill.

Glorious views across Somerset Levels. It is a steep climb to the top and this 70+ needed a helping hand but well worth the effort to be amongst the grazing sheep and overlook the pastoral scenes below.

Beautiful place to watch a sunset , amazing views of the surrounding area and easy to access from either the car park or the nearby pub! Certainly gets the heart rate up walking up , also dog friendly.

OK so the only thing I didn’t like was all the sheep poo. There’s tons of it, as sheep roam the whole site. They could even go inside the church past the barriers if they really wanted to. There was sheep poo in the whole field and it was even around the whole church itself. Like EVERYWHERE. It’s really really easy to step in the mess as well that they leave behind. As this site is held by the English trust I am surprised that there is no cleanup procedure in place due to the sheep.
The church itself looks amazing and is a bit of a climb up a hill so if someone has mobility issues it probably will be near impossible for them to climb up the hill without help as it’s steep.

Burrow Mump is a prominent hill where at the summits is the ruins of a church. The church was built on top of an earlier medieval church and also now serves as a war memorial with a plaque to those who lost their lives in the Second World War. Despite the ruinous state, the church building is photogenic on the hill on a backdrop of clear skies. It’s worth the hike up the hill to see the near complete tower.
The site also has a car park, so the visit also offers a chance to stop when touring around Somerset.

If you do not want the strenuous walk up Glastonbury Tor, then this is the walk for you. More more easy to go to and the views and well worth it. Doesn't have the visitors like Glastonbury, so much more enjoyable.

Great spot to stretch your legs by climbing the steep slope to the church ruin at the top, particularly if you have been driving for a while. Great views from the top across the mainly flat somerset levels.

There are some nice views and a pleasant walk up the hill. Lots of sheep poo to avoid though. Some good photos possible from the top.

unless they upset any cows or sheep that graze on the mump occasionally, I have never needed to put my dogs on lead, it is a beautiful tranquil place
