Another great visit to a lovely garden

Another lovely visit to a wonderful garden, as a gardener I saw exacttly what I would expect in the first week of March, Daffodils and Snowdrops and of course lots of Helibores and lots of evidence of new growth starting all around the gardens. So, ignore the recent very negative post from someone who is obviously not a gardener and presumably expects the garden to be overflowing with coulour all the year.
We enjoy visiting Borde Hill and many other gardens in the area at different times throughout the year, on each visit you see a different garden with various plants at their best at that time of the year.
One comment I would make is that pehaps you could find a way to increase the food range at the Gardeners Retreat, now that the restuarant outside the garden has closed it is the only place to get food, just an observation.
We will be back in May and hopefully again later in the summer.

Some dog waste bins wouldn’t go amiss.

Decided to visit to kill an hour or so and being very dog friendly, it was a good walk for our 2 dogs too. As you would expect for this time of year, there were only a few buds coming through, but I should think in the summer when it is all in bloom, it would be very pretty.

My only negative is, for such an openly dog friendly site, we did not come across one dog waste bin throughout the whole walk. As a matter of fact, the only bins at all are near the cafeteria and have a large sign saying NO DOG WASTE. As our Great Dane decided to leave a present, I had no choice other than triple bag it and put it in my fleece pocket for 90 minutes. Found a bin in the car park as we left. This is why people throw poo bags over fences into fields and chuck them in the undergrowth.

Still a very pleasant walk though.

Should free this time of year

I drove 1 hour 15mins to see this garden only to find there wasn’t anything to look at .I paid £23 for two adults which should have been free looking at the state of things
I am sorry but I wasn’t enchanted and I won’t be returning for a second visit I’m only disappointed that the website didn’t warn me not to expect what was advertised on the main web page.I was booked from 1pm and we had departed by 1:45 and it cost me £23 to take my dog for a walk which I could have done in my own area for free

There are signs of spring emerging all around the Garden including daffodils, camellias, hellebores and the first magnolia blooms, although the unusually cold weather has delayed some colour. Beyond the Garden lies 383 acres of heritage Parkland which is an ideal spot to walk your dog and enjoy the tranquil beauty of nature. A lovely garden to visit with children

We visit Borde Hill regularly and it’s by far our favourite garden to go to. I go with my two young children and they regularly have little trails for children in the holidays where they can collect clues and then get a prize (normally a book, or an Easter egg!). The trails are SO much better than the ones you get at National Trust places, a lot of thought goes into them and they’re a lot less busy too.

There is a lovely playground and a little cafe (mostly drinks I believe - it would be great if there were more food options), a nice gift shop and the garden itself is interesting to look around. Very friendly staff too. Highly recommend a visit.

Such a lovely place to visit regularly. Membership is really good value and there are lots of events including sculpture and plant sales as well as music and food festivals. Friendly staff too. It's a lovely walk through what feels like different gardens and great to experience the seasons. It feels as though you're in the middle of the countryside when in fact the nearest town is only a short distance away.

Lovely gardens and walks in spite of the hot weather

We visited using the 2:1 card and it was well worth it with plenty of different flower and shrub beds to see and laid out gardens. We saw numerous volunteers working the gardens and they were happy and they clearly enjoy the work and each others company. The gardens were just recovering from the hot weather but still plenty to see and cleverly laid out borders with lots of colour. The woodland walks were interesting and very good fo all ages. The staff at reception and the gardeners rest were very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit and if we lived nearer we would definitely visit regularly.

Lovely garden but very parched when we visited

What a beautiful garden - but sadly we chose to take our holidays during the heatwave so the poor plants were looking a little thirsty and the lawns were parched, but it is a lovely place to visit

One for a Spring or Autumn visit?

Visited the gardens a fortnight ago. It has a spacious car park and a good sized and well stocked gift shop. This is an ideal location for a stroll and perhaps in Spring or Autumn the grounds will be a little less parched. The day we visited the venue was closing an hour earlier than advertised but it was some consolation that we were told on the way in.

Nice friendly staff, lots of different parts of the garden to visit. The rose garden is beautiful and the hostas and waterfall are lovely. Nice views and plenty of seating around. A very pleasant couple of hours.
