Basket Swamp NP is the little sibling to Bald Rock and Boonoo Boonoo, but worthwhile in its own right.
A less developed park with few facilities, including rougher tracks, a higher clearance vehicle would be best although I suspect a 2WD could get to Blasket Falls with care.
Basket Falls are well worth the effort: try to get down to the river below to view the lower falls: it is a steep 500m walk but so worth it.
We also visited Timbarra Trig which provided extensive views to the north, including Tenterfield and well beyond.
We drove on out to Woollool Woollollni aboriginal site, here 4WD is helpful, but did not walk out the 400m path to the site itself: at the parking area a rundown shelter with a pile of rubbish, bags of empty alcohol bottles and an abandoned, unplated sedan left us feeling uncomfortable. It is a shame a lace of significance is treated without due respect.
This aside, the NP itself worth visiting. We did not see anyone else visiting on this midweek day we went.

There hadn't been rain for weeks and the waterfalls were still running! It is a bit of a drive in from the main road - but worth it at the end. We only had an hour or so to explore - would have liked more time. Would be fantastic for cooling off in summer!!! Make sure you take the time to walk to the bottom of the falls - a fantastic view from down there!

While the dirt road most of the way is suitable for 2WD, would suggest if you don't have the clearance of an AWD or 4WD to not attempt the last 400m down to carpark, park off road in one of several small cuttings. We had a reasonable amount of water flowing even after several dry months in the area but expect something spectacular after heavy rains. Midweek we were the only people there so very peaceful. Minimal walking distance to falls and also a steep fire track downhill for around 300m for different perspective. No facilities at carpark.

The road has a little section where good clearance under your car would be handy but don't let that put you off. The swamp is not much to see and the very basic campground is near it. The falls would be massive in the wet but still good with no rain. It's worth the walk to the lower falls, not far but steep in places and all downhill but all uphill on the way back. I'm not fit and could do it. The Aboriginal Place (Woolool Wooloolini) is a group of rocks reached by a short, easy walk up. Awesome views and amazing, huge rock formations. Don't miss the Timbarra Trig point Lookout. A short uphill walk to even more expansive views. Make sure you walk up on the rocks to the trig from behind for the views on the other side.

Boonoo Boonoo National Park is approximately 24km from Tenterfield and there is lots to see. There is a stunning waterfall and picturesque swimming holes There are hiking trails, camping areas, picnic spots and accommodation. We saw a lot of wildlife near the road so just be on the look out and take care.
We paid $8 for a day visit which covered all National Parks in the area. Definitely worth a visit

Came across this park by accident. Glad we did.
We entered from Mt Lindsay Hwy, and departed via Lindrock Rd > Boorook Rd > Bruxner Hwy. Our exit route was not marked, but take the day use / campsite road and continue north. You'll come to a T junction, take the right option.
From Mt Lindsay Hwy, some way in there is a fork. Straight ahead goes to the lower park area; the Woollool Woolloolni Rest Area. There's not a lot here as it reserved as a place of Aboriginal significance. The rest area makes a good lunch site. The left hand track from the fork is Basket Swamp Track and goes to the Basket Swamp Ck falls. This area is stunning.
A 4WD isn't necessary, though helpful. Most 2WD sedans with reasonable clearance to negotiate some of the ruts would suffice.

Besides the main national parks north of Tenterfield, Basket Swamp is a great alternative with a stunning waterfall and nice lookouts.
The tracks can be accessed with a normal car, however good clearance is required and the weather should be dry.
It is a great location without many people around.

Besides visiting the main attractions in this area, this year we decided to visit Basket Swamp National Park. For the drive to the park, I recommend a vehicle with enough clearance. Our small vehicle did not like the tracks too much and we had to park a few hundred meters before the actual car park at the waterfalls.
There were no other people up here today and we walked around the pools of water and had a lot of fun.
