Is essentially a marker to entice people travelling down the road to make a visit to a wildlife conservation park. Unlike its reputation however, this one looks rather passive.

We were staying next door. So stopped for the iconic photo after been inside to see the animals. It is worth the visit not just for you but the animals.

Located at the turnoff to the track for Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, this oversized statue of a Tasmanian Devil looks as if it is standing guard. A fun statue to see in the early morning mist.

This is one of those things you sort of have to do… stop! Take a photo with a devil. 😊
So firstly I should point out that devils aren’t really huge in real life…so this is not a life size reproduction… although can you imagine greeting this when you were out walking. You wouldn’t be sure whether you wanted to pet it or run from it. Chances are I would end up dead if that were the case because I would opt to pet it.
Ever wonder how they were named devils? Oh come now… you were so wondering. Apparently devils are quite aggressive if they feel threatened or are competing for food ( sounds like some humans I know) … they will bare their teeth, lunge and emit load, blood-curdling shrieks ( again like some humans I know) and the early settlers imagined devils surrounding them in the wilderness and dubbed them ‘devils’.
Devils ? hmmm… supremely evil? They have jaws that can open to 80 degrees and have the strongest bite for its size of any mammal in the world. I am still not sure I would refer to them as evil. They are pungent as they mark their territory. ( I have sadly, met people like this) Their teeth continue to grow all of their lives… think Dracula. 😊 All in all…the creatures are fascinating- what’s not to love about the Devil?!?!

The statue is at the entrance to Trowunna Wildlife Park. It is OK but please visit the actual park which is a 5* attraction!

とても大きなタスマニアデビルのハリボテ（？）がTrowunna Wildlife Sanctuaryの入口に構えています。この目印を目標にして行けば間違いなく目的地にたどり着きます。

You will pass by the Big Devil as he's on the main road through Mole Creek so you'll spot him if you are going to the local caves or on the way through to Cradle Mountain. He's at the entry of Trowunna Sanctuary. I'd recommend stopping though as the sanctuary is a great place to visit. The devil seems to be in pretty good condition.

You pass this carving as you enter the grounds of Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s well carved but not worth visiting unless you are driving past or visiting Trowunna
