one of the prettiest hiking trails in the midwest! good history... but the area is just so pretty! wish the state would invest a bit more maintenance $ into this!

We enjoyed this site for hiking. But the distances seem understated and somewhat confusing. We started up the east side of the Fort Trail (the Fort Trail is a loop). First section is all up -- not steep but steady. We picked up the Gorge Trail (listed at 3.1 miles which is in addition to the out portion of the Fort Trail). First section headed north and east was a nice steady downhill. The Buckeye Trail joins in and the trail gets more narrow and slippery in spots. Very nice views along the gorge paralleling Baker Creek -- one small natural bridge, several stream enlarged crevices. Our total time was just over 2 1/2 hours at a steady pace

Very well kept trails, well marked. Some trails easy and gentle, however, some are kick-butt. Your choice.

Very historical site on the very top plateau.

Great Hiking

They have about 5 trails to hike. One will take about 1 1/2 hours to 2. Others will take from 2 to 3 hours and 1 trail will lead you into other state parks. Beautiful scenery. We took a picnic lunch with us and spent about 3 1/2 hours. There is also a shelter house there and restrooms.

Great scenic and historic hiking at Fort Hill State Memorial

This site is 15 minutes away from the more famous Serpent Mound. It offers hiking to a complex of old Indian Mounds. The river and gorge views are very scenic and worth the effort.
They have picnic tables where you can sit and share your meal either before or after your hike. The trails we hiked did not have pic nic tables but had a few spots where we could have stopped for a picnic so long as we were a small group of 4.
