Spring Break at Oaks Park was great time for the family. The parking lot was very full. There were lines for rides and food. But everyone was polite and friendly. We had a wonderful experience showing our grandson 3 year old a fun day. He loves the slide and other rides. The cheese burgers were nothing to go back for, but the curly fries were excellent. The staff were polite and helpful.

Here’s the thing. Most of the reviews I read before posting this seemed to be written by Portlanders or nearby natives. Many people, it seems, have a fondness, a feeling of nostalgia, or maybe (on the other end) are feeling like it is too expensive, compared to when they came years ago. I am writing this review as someone who has lived in a few other states and has visited other amusement parks, fairs, and attraction-type parks (water parks, etc).

Keep your expectations very low, and you might be fine. I think if you are young or have little kids, you are probably better-off for OP as well. There are definitely some spinning, flipping, “make you sick” rides that teens might enjoy, too. They need more and better food options, some general cleaning and updating, and some TLC for the restrooms and the poor roller rink. That place just straight-up smells like feet! It was really gross. Oregon and Washington have no major amusement parks and only a few small ones here and there. So. If you live up here, there just are not great choices for people looking for places to ride rides.

The Wednesday morning rides for young kids were reasonably priced and fun for our three and five year old boys. The noon reading event was too large, although the book chosen was terrific. They gave kids a cookie and milk afterwards, but the milk we received was spoiled.

Prices after 12 pm were high, and food prices are prohibitive for many families. Food servers seemed to be poorly trained, and I would seriously question health standards. There are many places to picnic, and I suggest bringing your own food.

One food booth that should be skipped is Babi Boba Desserts. There was no vegetarian option at the main food booth, so I ordered a chocolate milk shake from Babi Boba. It was an 8 oz cup of ice chips and what tasted like chocolate milk! Not a milk shake, for sure. Price? $6, plus they charged 30 cents for using a credit card.

Great old style amusement park with a tree-covered picnic area for families. Carnival rides, putt-putt golf, and all the bad food you loved as a kid are there, too. Don't miss it!

Always nostalgic but not worth it anymore

I am giving it a 3 because OP is a childhood memory and holds a place in many of our hearts but as an adult I don’t enjoy it like I did as a kid. It’s expensive and crowded and the last time I was there with my kids school it took over an hour to get on a ride. We were there four hours so my daughter got to ride 4 rides…..? Plus they are charging extra for some rides. The whole reason I got on to write a review is because the new-ish roller coaster is a huge concern to me and after the accident in (Florida?) it brought this to my mind. That roller coaster at OP does NOT have a shoulder strap and you start off going STRAIGHT UP. Of any amusement ride ever I’ve never been more scared. I could feel myself sliding. I can’t imagine how someone hasn’t slipped out. I won’t let me kids ride it. Seems pretty irresponsible to not have a shoulder strap. It is 2022 and it has been years since I was there so it is possible that they have corrected this by now but if not….. hang on.

I remember when rides used to scare you rather than make you feel sick. Line for race cars was too long. I would have tried a few more rides but wasn't feeling well after a couple, also a bit tired before I came thought getting out would help me snap out of it, but not those rides

Way to expensive

I remember when i was a kid and oaks park was only like $10 per person, and now it’s almost $40 for adults? You also have to pay for certain rides even after paying $40 for your ticket, it’s absolutely insane

Disney World it is not- it is certainly more local and small scale but I think thta is the point. The retro rollar skating rink is perfect

Awesome time with minimal lines

I never knew that oaks existed until my wife found it when we were vacationing in Portland. We started with a train ride got unlimited bracelets for rides so that we could go with the kids. There were like no lines so it was awesome.

Not all of theEmployees were friendly but some of them were very nice.We also took advantage of the putt putt golf course and had A blast there.

Great Fun for Kids of all Ages

Attended Oktoberfest and although it was extremely crowded, we still had a fun time. The activities were well planned and had something for everyone. Food lines and adult beverage lines were ridiculous so we chose not to go to the "big tent" for that, but they had other places for food and drink. Putt Putt Golf was expensive, but fun!
