We attend the holiday tea every year. The estate is decorated for Christmas and it is breathtaking. The staff are so kind and knowledgeable. I can't wait to come back next year.

A fascinating look at the gilded age. Tour guide Nina was very knowledgeable and di a great job in providing historical context as well as answering questions. Buildings and grounds are well kept.

This tour was so much fun! After an awe inspiring view of the carriage house and family home I was able to stroll the beautiful terrace.

We took the 90-minute Cairnwood History tour this week, and really enjoyed it. The introductory video was excellent, and our tour guide was a delight. We enjoyed seeing the family's historic vehicles in the Carriage house-- everything from horse-drawn sleighs and carriages to a luxurious custom Packard. The house tour was even better-- a multi-floor tour through both the family and servants quarters that gave us a real feeling of what life must have been like for the people that lived and worked there. There was so much to see and read about in every room that we are already looking forward to our next visit to learn more about this remarkable family!

We wanted to explore local historical places on the birthday of Pennsylvania. We were able to see some other historical sites as well but Cairnwood Estate was our highlight by far. Such an informative and fascinating tour. Our guide, Nina, was simply great. After we toured all three main levels of the mansion we were given a final surprise of the carriage house which was worth the visit in and of itself. I highly recommend this tour as a couple, solo, or with a small group or family.

We finally visited this beautiful site after living in the area for 30 years. Our guide did a wonderful job on the 1 1/2 hour Guided History Tour of Cairnwood Estate where we learned about the Pitcairn family and toured 3 floors of the beautiful mansion and the carriage house. We will definitely bring our other family members here and we will go back to tour the Bryn Athyn Cathedral & Glencairn Museum very soon. We highly recommend seeing this amazing historical site.

We did the “Guided Christmas in Cairnwood Tour” and our tour guide Lisa was very knowledgeable, easy to understand and happy to answer any questions. We did another tour at Glencairn Museum afterwards and the information given on both tours didn’t overlap much at all. If doing both tours, I’d recommend starting with Cairnwood. We were also pleasantly surprised how friendly the staff was.

All of the gals in our group have driven by the estate numerous of times and finally we did a tour. Such a surprising experience. A great day was enjoyed by all 4 of us. The tour offered so much history.

We had a such a great time touring the estate! We had a private tour, and our guide did such a great job including my sons, ages 10 and 11. She was engaging and interesting and clearly passionate about the history of the estate. We would recommend to others and will be back ourselves for sure!

This was a sleeper surprise. We were heading to Longwood Gardens from NYC and looked to break up the trip by staying overnight near the Gardens so that we could get in a full day at the Gardens, which was well worth it.
While researching where to go along the way, I saw Valley Forge. From the Valley Forge Area Visitors site was a link to Bryn Athyn.
We made arrangement for a 2 PM tour of Cairnwood. There were two choices, the house tour at 11 or the grounds tour at 2. Due to the distance we were travelling, I chose the grounds tours although the house tour would have been my preference. We arrived at the Estate, just up the hill from the Cathedral, which I also recommend visiting. We were the only 3 people on the tour in a Mid-May Thursday afternoon. The docent could not have been more accomodating. I told her of MY preference. She said said she could alter the tour and asked my companions who deferred to my choice. It was a great tour. Highlights included the Carriage House, a real turn of the century experience, going from late 1800's sleds to 1920s Packard. We had otherwise limited tours of beautiful grounds. The docent gave us much information on both the house and the background of Joseph Pitcairn and his family. Around 3:20, almost at the end of the scheduled tour, the docent told us that we were running behind. She then asked if we wanted to continue. We had no place to be until 6:30. We ended the tour around 4:30. We learned about the house, the Pitcairn family, and about New Church.
I cannot say if others would get the same experience but it was a very interesting day especially not knowing any of the history of New Church and the important relatively anonymous Pitcairn family. We never made it to Valley Forge.
The Cathedral is separately reviewed.
The Glencairn Museum next door, build by Joseph Pitcairn's son, is closed while undergoing a major renovation until at least Winter 2023. We will probably return en route to Winterthur, to revisit the Cathedral and view Glencairn
The townsfolk were the nicest, happiest people. They love being there
