It's not a big place, but that's part of the charm! Nice selections, wine, cider, Meade, beer, they're all here, and all delicious! Our host was super friendly, and knowledgeable, this is a great place to check out!

The location has moved since my first visit; now on Broad St in Elizabethville. The staff is friendly and they have significantly expanded their offerings since my last visit a few years ago. Part of the Heartland Christmas trail, the tastings offered a nice variety, but didn’t find much to my taste. I’m addition to the wines, they have hard ciders available.

On a whim, Marie and I decided we wanted to go out and do something. After seeing that our wine stores were all but depleted, we sought out new frontiers that we hadn't been to. Enter Broad Mountain - about an hours drive north-west of us. No biggie.
If you're looking for the vineyard - this location isn't it. I say that so you can forgo the obvious confusion as the GPS winds you through Elizabethville to a smallish building on Market Street. Not a big deal for us, but again - so you know - the Vineyard proper is in a different location.
I read other reviews commenting about the parking lot - get over it. It's stoned up, there's a few spots to avoid but really - it's not even worth mentioning in a review otherwise. Give them time to get the location up and running. If you just learned to walk and you understand how weather and atmosphere works - you'll be fine.
We went in winter obviously, but the outside looks like it'd be absolutely beautiful in the summer. There's a wine bottle shaped planting space in the sidewalk near the exterior table "barrels". It just seems like kind of a nice spot to enjoy a little outdoor time with a glass of wine. Entering the building, you're in a hallway with the restrooms to your left. That's nice since you wont' have to play the "where's the washroom" game as soon as you enter the tasting room and can really appreciate the space. Second door and wow. The outside of the business doesn't say a whole lot outside of the little area i mentioned but the inside is definitely what i wanted to see. Tables and chairs spaced wide enough to provide privacy and freedom of movement. Sweet looking "wine bottle" windows - where the bottom of the bottles are cut off and used as the glass. Nice Steam-punk/ industrial style lighting but plenty of it so you're not in a dungeon. They were decorated for christmas and the tasting area was a little cramped as far as leg-room thanks to the garland and christmas balls, but i'll allow it. There was a separate room with a larger table where the winery had merchandise, jams, cheeses and meats for sale. I recommend visiting that room before you cash out.
So, we sat down, were informed of their 5 wine, 5 cider tasting rules and decided to have at it as well as order a "full flight" charcuterie board (**The photo only shows HALF of the full flight. There was another plate with 2 more meats, and 3 more cheeses on it as well as a specialty mustard.)
Our board had: Dutch country swiss, paradise colby, Tender beef, smoked salmon, venison summer sausage, elk summer sausage, Paradise Cheddar, Paradise Reserve, Garlic Cheddar, and Herbal Jack along with the Raspberry Jalapeno jam and the bacon chipotle mustard. I know we doubled up on one because they were out of one we wanted to try as far as cheese, but i forget which.
There was one guy there from the get-go as we had arrived just after opening, but man did he do a good job. I neglected to get his name because that's just me, but he has a nice beard, and knows tons about pretty much everything. Marie says Kyle - but she thinks everybody is Kyle when we forget a name. Sorry man, but if the manager's reading this - whoever was opening sunday that's your guy. A+
The meats and cheeses were amazing. I don't know if i've ever had something so flavorful that paired so well with the wine offered. Our tasting guru knew exactly what to do with each item and what it would pair best with - even explaining why right off the bat. As for the wines - I can honestly say that i've done a lot of winery tours and have been to my fair share. I've seen wines, beer, and cider at this pricepoint before and it wasn't a surprise. What WAS surprising is that while all these other places i talk about tend to have the same flavors, amount of tannins, and pretty much make carbon copies of the same wine - Broad Mountain actually made some really REALLY good wine in comparison. That's saying something. The tender and I spoke briefly about the price points in general and we had talked about distributors and the like.... I told him they could go higher. It's really that good - and you can tell. (Good news, they've got no plans to change pricing, so don't yell at me). It was really just a simple case of i don't want to see a place fold up or get pigeonholed or passed over because of being the same as everybody else. I really don't recall a time where i went somewhere and actually enjoyed everything they put in front of me. Literally everything.
I want to say we spent like 2 hours there. could have been more now that i think about it. I really wasn't counting but did know we had other places to hit before the day was done. Recalling the title of this post - we should have just stayed at Broad Mountain and enjoyed it. It was just a great time. Some people who i presume are locals came in and chatted up our "bartender" but he really had no trouble keeping up with both tastings and the service for the other room. It wasn't packed at all, but hats off to the guy. He was moving.
All in, receipt said a little over $200 once all was done there. Well worth it. 2 tastings, 12 bottles of wine, 3 full glasses of wine, full flight charcuterie, block of cheese, jar of mustard, and tip.
We're definitely going to go back and see what it's all about in the warmer months. I want to see how that outdoor area shapes up with flowers and hanging lights.
I didn't get photos of the inside - my phone camera sucks, and it just wouldn't do it justice anyway. Good place. Not huge like some other wine tasting venues, but we're definitely coming back.

Looking to see what was on tap as far as hard ciders, tried the Pumpkin, Vanilla, and Ginger. Was not wowed by any means! Vanilla was the best - like unsweetened cream soda, but was not in bottles to buy! Ginger did not taste or smell like ginger at all - need to go to Finger Lakes for the best Ginger Hard Ciders!! Pumpkin, of course, was all about the spices - hint of spices. Was in bottles so bought a few!! Had forgot to bring the growler along!! They need to work more on hard ciders that deliver a kick - a crisp bubbly tasteful hard cider!! Dry wines and beer seem to be he rest of the focus!! Lots of seating, space for venues& just hanging out!!

A nice selection of wines and ciders. Big surprise! Big selection of PA beers. I mean I like Yuengling. The real gem here. They have Yards from Philly. They have Victory. They have Troegs. Staff is friendly. Give a try.

A group of us (13) were there on a planned trip. The winery was made aware of our visit and our approximate arrival time. Unfortunately, they failed to make appropriate arrangements for our arrival. I should note that this winery’s tasting facility also serves PA craft beers and the serving/tasting area can only accommodate five or six people. When we arrived, three of those spaces were occupied by what appeared to be local individuals who were consuming beverages as though this were the local pub. While the server/attendant admitted that he was aware we were arriving, he also admitted that he “was only one person” and would not be able to help everyone. Tastings at this winery are free, however, because we were part of a ‘tour group’ we were charged $5.00 per person. The server appeared to be knowledgeable about the wines that they produced, however, he made little attempt to accommodate everyone, focused his attention on three individuals and only assisted others when they managed to get this attention. He apparently was very aware of any and all PLCB laws and took advantage of every opportunity to mention these, almost as an excuse for his poor abilities as a server. (We visited several wineries this day that had only one server and they were excellent in making sure everyone was served and in an enjoyable way.) I cannot speak to the quality of the wines as I was one of the many unfortunate members our of group who was ignored, despite my requests for a sample. If you are planning to stop by and have no more than two or three in your group with both wine and beer preferences, this may be a possible place to enjoy. If you are planning on a group larger than four, their ability to provide adequate service to you or to even make you feel welcome is seriously lacking. I would not recommend this facility based on the customer service given to anyone not from this local area.

When the wife and I pulled into the almost empty parking lot and saw the nondescript building that used to house the local newspaper distribution operations, we almost didn’t go inside. It was about as inviting as a funeral home. But we are glad we pressed on and entered this winery. Inside we found a comfy tasting room that was well decorated (see attached window made of wine bottles) and staffed by the most friendliest of people. They had a good selection of their wines as well as local beers. It was the perfect stop towards the end of a long day in the car.

This little out-of-the-way winery is a gem! They bottle their own and have a very complete selection to choose from. A variety of beers are on tap for the beer lovers, and a wine-slushy machine that makes the BEST wine slushies because they tinkered wjth their machines until they got it just right. Friendly bartender/beer enthusiast/sommelier was willing to share knowledge. Very nice, new atmosphere makes this a terrific place to taste some of the best wine the valley has to offer.
Comparing this experience to other wineries, and I have been to many across the country, Broad Mountain is a Star of the Star of the Valley!
