Great drive and chance to lose yourself in nature

This is an easy drive and very scenic. Easy to lose yourself in your thoughts and just be around the trees and clouds. Interesting natural and manmade sites along the way.

Features day use, camping and cabins. A large lake is good for swimming, boating and fishing. Boats are seasonally available. A few hiking trails. Various programs throughout the year -- check out the websites for details.

This is home to Black Moshannon State Park, a 220 Acre lake literally covered in white and pink water lillies, absolutely beautiful

Very peaceful and relaxing 3 night stay. It was end of season so there weren’t many people there so that was nice.
Everything about this place was great except the bed was terrible. Bring a air mattress or extra padding.
Cabin was very clean and comfortable. Cell service is hit and miss depending on where you are. So in essence, if you really want to unplug you can do it here.
Philipsburg is about a 20 minute drive once you get on the main road. Expect a good 12 -15 drive to actually get into the park.

Beautiful, Remote, Easy Access

Drove through most of the forest roads in a car. Vast open wilderness, dense pines, varies with each hill. Camped next to a creek with Elk feeding by the stream. Never saw another camper. Not nearly as much ATV use as Allegheny National Forest. Truly remote. no cell signal, no services. just you and nature in one of the darkest skies in the state.

Nice state park to view the fall Folliage

Moshannon State Park is a nice state park to view the fall foliage. We stop by every fall in October. Beautiful leaves and we usually buy a foxes pizza in Dubois and eat it here.
