Captain Boo was such a great guide and captain for our group- we booked a short boat cruise before dinner and were allowed to bring drinks and food on with us as a fun activity when we got to palmetto bluff for a few days on a work offsite! Perfect weather and fun facts and stories to hear about the surrounding area. I think everyone would love doing this with friends, kids, etc.

Captain Doreen was great! She gave us a safe, fun and enjoyable tour of the waterways and Daufuski island. We saw many different birds and several dolphins along the way. Once on the island, Doreen told us the story of the Gullah people, their language and their struggles. The group shared a beautiful moment in the church that will stay with me. Thanks to Doreen and the Outside team for a great adventure.

Mickey clearly was passionate and knowledgeable about the history and ecosystem of Bluffton. Very different from other tours I’ve had with Captains that were just there for a job.

What an awesome kayak trip on the Broad Creek. Helen is a very knowledgeable guide and had many interesting antidotes about the wild life and nature. She took us across the creek and we saw 23 Rosey Pink Spoonbills...that was amazing. I highly recommend this trip.

We had an amazing time paddle boarding on the May River this morning. Lynn was an awesome guide and coach. We were a bunch of beginners and successfully got up on our boards and out onto the water in choppy conditions. I would definitely recommend paddle boarding with Lynn and Outside. Thanks for a great time!

Fabulous tour! Our guide, Grace, knew where to go and what to point out. We started out by seeing a manatee right at the dock, then saw Great Blue Herons, egrets, osprey diving for fish, terns catching shrimp, and to top it off a dolphin!

Our tour guide was Sebastian and we were 7 ladies. Sebastian combined just the right mix of rowing, resting, and rousing interest in our natural surroundings. He related all the ecosystems associated with them, including a bald eagle sighting, the importance of oysters, pluff mud, spartina and of course, tides. It was most enjoyable and we had the perfect day, not too hot and not too cold. Bravo!

We had a great time on the water yesterday. We were a group of 7 women including some beginners. It was windy and the water was a bit choppy, but our wonderful tour guide, Sebastian, kept us moving. He is very entertaining and knowledgeable about the ecosystem. It was a fun morning.

Do you offer a captain for any of the boat rentals? If not, do you have to have a license to ride the pontoon boats?

Hi. Thank you for reaching out. We offer both captained and self guided boat rentals. To rent a pontoon you do need to be 18 years.

What’s the difference between the 3 daily kayak tours offered? It says they are all 2 hours but they have different prices.

Thanks for your question.
Outside offers several different kayak tours every day. These include:
-4-hour wildlife paddle of The Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge
-The OUTBACK that combines an interpretive dolphin/eco boat cruise to our remote and private chain of islands with a beautifoul calm-water kayak tour
and
-2- hour tours from two different Hilton Head locations.
The 2-hour tours are offered:
1. Through the waters of The Pinckney Island Wildlife Refughe from Buckingham Landing
2. In the waters of The Broad Creek Wildlife Artea from Shekter Cove Marina.
#1 is $5 more than #2. This location is a bit morte remote, paddles along an undeveloped view shed, and we limit the trips to just 8 kayaks
#2 is our most popular trip in the protected salt-marsh ecosystem.

The type of boat used is determined by the size of your group:
Up to 6 people- 21'Deck Boat
7-12 people- 24' custom designed Carolina Skiff
13-15 people- 26' C- Hawk

During the winter months the North Atlantic Right Whale actually gives birth from about the Daytona Florida area all the way up to about North Carolina. You won't normally see them inshore, however you can get lucky and see them offshore while on a fishing charter. I have only seen one in my lifetime and that was up in North Carolina, but the possibility of seeing them is definately there.
