This is nice little shop attached to a historic hotel. There were some nice items and the friendly staff person offered us some tips for our RC visit.

I was so looking forward to visiting this shop attached to the hotel. As we approached the shop they had information on their requirements for covid for entering the store, pretty standard until you get down to attached sheet of paper stating no neck gaiters. Wait, what? Neck gaiters are fine everywhere else around in their community, even the airline approve double lined gaiters, which we had. To me it leaves me with the impression it isn't about safety but the need of someone to feel in control.
Sad we couldn't shop in their store.

Great store with very reasonable prices. The owner Jennifer was lovely and wrapped things extremely well. Huge selection and a wide variety of gift ideas. Loved all the artwork by local artists and beautiful jewelry

Nice items inthis hotel shop and personnel were vere very friendly. However, look at other shops before purchasing as their prices are a bit above others in the area. This is expected in a hotel, however.

It was one of the nicer shops located in a hotel. The merchandise contained very nice native items along with other items to purchase.

The store opens from the front door and a door from the hotel lobby. Shelves with Native American art & linens, Minnetonka shoes, jewelry from various artists!

Stopped into this shop while staying at the Alex Johnson Hotel and I was amazed at the quality and variety of merchandise in this one store. They carry authentic Native American art and crafts as well as collector's items. Their jewelry is almost hand-made by local artists and their moccasins are fairly priced with lots of designs to choose from. Jan, the manager, and all her staff are outstanding and helpful, well informed about their merchandise and always accommodating.
A visit to Rapid City should definitely include a visit to the Mercantile.

We couldn’t believe the quality & variety of items in this shop. From jewellery to carvings to boots! It’s jam packed with fabulous locally made produce. The staff were also super helpful. We bought some carvings by local Oglala Lakota artists & some hand made earrings. Could have bought a lot more but had lots more travelling to do

Wonderful works of art on display and for sale. Many museum quality items can be had here. A variety of artists on display in various media such as bead work, pottery, wood, paintings, prints, photography, and many more. Something for nearly everyone. I walked around several times and still kept finding items I had missed.
