We were apprehensive about booking a tour, but it was highly recommended so we reluctantly booked. We could have never covered the miles that KareBear drove (and certainly not with the Class C in which we're traveling). Everything was first class and KareBear was a thorough wealth of information about everything - wildlife, plants, natural history, travel, etc.; sort of like a history teacher, but fun! She had many amusing antidotes, along with some corny, but fun, jokes. We were treated to bison, pronghorn, big horn sheep and deer. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone and am so glad we gave in to our apprehensions.

This is an excellent tour in a small minibus which makes everything more personable, and can go where the bigger vehicles can not go.

What a great tour!! From booking the tour to the end of the day what an experience! Booked the tour with Wes, a very pleasant gentleman. He detailed the tour, made sure I knew what was included and what was extra (just the lunch which was at a buffet along the route).
All the water and light snacks were provided as well.
Waz, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure we saw the sites and many animals along our way. He even back tracked for us to see mountain goats unfortunately they had moved on or as he said they have feet so... they were gone!
There were 9 in our van, we were all picked up at our various campgrounds / hotels. All in all our experience went smoothly, without a hitch!

Best tour we've had. The tour guide, Kare Bear, (Karen) was a veteran guide with a lot of experience in the area. Tour bus was a nice air conditioned tour van with large windows and a large capacity without crowding. Kare Bear kept a good schedule that allowed time to stop and view the sights. She gave us advice as to how to see everything and which things to do in sequence to get the most out of the sight. She also provided a continual commentary about the places we were seeing, as well as suggestions for other things to do in the area, including restaurants, etc. Water was provided for the entire trip. At one point snacks were offered as well. Both the water and snacks were included. Numerous times Kare Bear asked if we needed rest rooms, so everone was comfortable. We take a lot of tours at various places in the country, since we've been full time RV'ers for 8 years. This one was the best!

Rj is amazing,besides the unreal knowladge he has of the area he was just a great guy!this full day tour went way beyond what we hoped for and rj made us laugh and feel like family from the minute he met us at the door( what an absolute value rj is to this tour)we met another couple(dee& jay) who after 1 day have made a great long lasting connection,thank you rj for being a real person who loves life & laughing.we would 200% recommend this tour to anyone ! Great tour/great guide/great day...thanks guys we will remember this day for ever ,glenn and lisa mitchell from new zealand

What an AWESOME tour provided of Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Memorial. Our tour guide, Larry, was GREAT, very knowledgeable and through his diligence and tracking down of the wildlife, he provided us with an "Upclose" "Personal" view of Bison and other wildlife. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!! We would do this tour again and again...THANK LARRY!!!

Kare Bear was our knowledgeable and super-friendly tour guide for our all-day adventure. She had trivia and stories for everything we saw and drove us safely through narrow roads and hairpin turns. We learned so much and had several opportunities to get out and walk around. We saw bison, prong- horned antelope, mule deer, wild donkeys and unbelievable scenery. You won’t be sorry if you choose them!

Great tour and wonderful staff. I highly recommend them. It beats having to drive yourself and let's you enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Well worth the price.

We only had a limited time to see the major attractions of the Black Hills. We scheduled a tour before we ever left home in Charleston, South Carolina, after reading all of the favorable reviews and the praise for "Kare Bear" as a guide. She picked us up at our hotel, right on time, in a very comfortable vehicle. From then on, the tour to on an amazing feel. Not only was she a knowledgeable guide, she was fun to listen to as she explained what we were seeing. Not to be missed were her driving skills, managing an oversized tour van along roads that were better suited for for Swiss Alps motorcycle racing than automobile travel. We not only saw the black Hills attractions, we saw them from multiple viewpoints while the history, including local stories, was skillfully explained to us. Our tour was everything we could have hoped for and more.

Kare Bear was our guide and she was fantastic and narrated the entire time. She went out of her way to make sure we saw wild life (including u turns - can’t do that in a big bus!). At Crazy Horse she made sure we all had gotten our free rock. She had extra literature, water, umbrellas, you name it. Extremely knowledgeable about the Black Hills, Wyoming and SD history. I felt like I learned a lot about SD culture. Made sure we got to the buffet lunch BEFORE the big buses got there :). When I mentioned that the Air/Space Museum was closed the other day she called Wes (owner) who checked it out and called me back directly during our “lunch break”. All around professional who genuinely cared that we all enjoyed ourselves, had a good time and saw what we wanted to see. She even shared with a competitor where the bison were hiding out. We had a great time and would highly recommend this company.

We were in Rapid City, little before 8 and 4:45 dropped off. First to be picked up and last to be dropped off. Perfect way to experience the area!

How early do we have to book the daily tour to Mt Rushmore? We are arriving in Rapid City on Saturday 28 July and leaving 1 August. Or can we do this as soon as we arrive in Rapid City?

You should book immediately. They don't take any money until you are on the tour. You will love it. Ask if you can have kare bear for your tour guide.

I found out about your company on deadwoods homepage. Do you do pickups in deadwood for your daily tour or just in Sturgis. I am going to deadwood a weekend in may and thought this might be a good way to see more of the black hills. I would be traveling alone, would you have a large enough group that time to do a tour?

Well I can’t speak for the tour company, but I stayed in Deadwood & had no problem with being picked up at my hotel. I was there in October & had a fabulous time! We toured the Black Hills Tour, which did not go to Sturgis. They have several tour packages you can pick from but I don’t remember all of them. Have fun on your trip!

I am traveling through the area, and I'm just wondering why not just drive through these sites on your own? Do you need a guide? (Even one as fantastic as this?)

You absolutely can drive to the sites on your own. We chose to take the guided tour for two reasons. First, we wanted everyone to enjoy the scenery without having to watch the road. Second, we were able to get more insider information, stories, folk lore, etc. from our guide who has been living in the area for years.
