We stayed at Standing Stone State Park in December for a family Christmas. It was wonderful! We stayed in a deluxe cabin that even had a large tv, not that we watched tv much with the cosy surroundings for family games. The cabins are well stocked with everything you need. They are furnished well, and for once I could even sleep when not at home. The beds were very comfortable for me. The staff at the park was so accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend this state park.

I booked Cabin 10 to read, meditate and hike a little bit at the park. The cabin is perfect for a solo traveler or a couple. The air conditioning worked great, shower was nice and warm with good water pressure and all the kitchen appliances worked very well. I especially enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening as the weather cooled. The cabins are close together, but I was blessed with mostly quiet neighbors. The park staff were friendly and helpful.

The lake trail was pretty ambitious for me as the climb is initially quite steep and the initial steps were tough to find even with a print map and a map phone application. Being summer, the views are pretty limited. That was also the case at the picnic area/scenic view turnoff from the park road. I would expect it gets very scenic in the fall and winter.

If you walk across the road to the conference center (not used during my visit) there is a porch/deck on the back that gives you a nice sunset view.

I grew up playing in this park and years later it still does not disappoint. My husband and I rented one of the rustic cabins in May and had such a wonderful time that we booked again for June and took our kids. And we also booked again for the fall. Check in was probably the smoothest I have ever done out of everywhere we have travelled. I don't think it took more than 2 minutes. And the people in the office are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The office also has a gift shop with a selection of common souvenirs and snacks. You can also get ice and firewood and a good price. This is also where you rent out the different boats they have to offer.

Rustic Cabin #13 - This is a tiny cabin that sleeps 4 (I don't recommend that). It has 1 bedroom and a sofa bed. This is one of the cabins that recently went through a remodel and it is very charming. Just the right size for my husband and I. We chose this cabin because it had a back porch looking out over a small wooded area rather than a front porch that looked at the cabin across the street. The kitchen is very small but offered all that we needed. It has a refrigerator, sink, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. The only thing the kitchen didn't have was a pot holder and baking sheets. Which wasn't a problem for us. It had coffee filters, dish pods, dish soap, trash bags, towels, cups, mugs, plates, bowls, silverware, basic utensils, cork screw, a few pots and pans and a small pyrex dish. The living room was a good size and had a dinning table to seat 4, gas fireplace, pullout sofa and a coffee table. This is a rustic cabin so there is no tv. The bathroom is small and contains towels, wash cloths, soap and toilet paper. The shower is very small but did just fine. Bedroom is large enough for the bed and that is about it. The back porch was a very nice size and had 2 rocking chairs and a small table. Right next to the cabin is the standard park grill, I suggest bringing some foil or a grill tray to place on it. There is also a firepit next to this cabin if you want to make smores. This cabin size was perfect for me and my husband. We had a great time staying here.

Deluxe Cabin #6A- We booked this cabin for us and 2 of our kids. This one has not been remolded. It is still very nice and the space was just perfect for a larger group. It has 3 bedrooms and a sofa bed. Sleeps 10. A nice front porch with 2 rocking chairs and a standard park grill. The living room and kitchen are open floor plan. Kitchen had plenty of everything you might need. Cups, plates, mugs, bowls, pots, pans, baking sheets, baking dishes, pitchers, silverware, utensils, pot holders, dish liquid, dish pods, towels, etc. It has a dishwasher, oven, stove, refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave and toaster. The living room is spacious with a plenty of seating, coffee table and tv. There is also a bar counter with seating for 4 and a large dinning table. Off the dinning room is a back porch with a picnic table. The bathroom is downstairs and has towels, soap, and toilet paper. It has a tub/shower combo. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs. 1 bedroom with 1 full bed, dresser and a bar to hang up clothes. And 1 bedroom with 1 full size and 1 twin bed, dresser and a bar. The loft area has 1 full bed and 1 twin bed, dresser, and a bar. Our teenage kids had a blast at the cabin and are dying to come back. This cabin was a good fit for us and it would easily hold more people comfortably.

There is lots of things to do in the park. The park has a weekly schedule of events for each week that are interesting. It may included catching crawfish or an animal expert. They post these schedules on their Facebook page each week. You can also hike, play in the creek below the dam, there is a play ground, volley ball courts, baseball field, soccer, basketball, tennis, a rec room, pool (closed for 2021), marble arena, a nice size lake for fishing, boat rentals, paddle boats, and kayaks. Dale Hollow Lake is also a few minutes down the road if you are wanting to rent a pontoon boat or speed boat for the day. There are lots of docks to choose from. I am probably leaving something out. If you are looking for a getaway without the overpriced expenses then this is the place. It is very peaceful and well kept. We can't wait to come back this fall. And I definitely see more trips here in our future.

This is a nice local park. I am a bit disappointed as there is no=thing to commemorate the name-sake. I did go to Monterey to see the remnant of the standing stone, but there was no sign or indication of anything about it in the park itself. It was pretty quiet that day, and we mostly just drove through.

We were happy to see fall color hanging on for us to enjoy. Took a hike down to the dam from the ranger station. Steep series of switch backs with a nice view at the bottom. We continued our trek back following the bank of the water which brought beautiful slate & other rock formations. Took over an hour. We had the added surprise of seeing a heron eating a fish he had just pulled out of the lake, and a playful otter swimming freely.
The ranger was polite and gave us a trail map, but we found trail markers were almost nonexistent. I suggest you wear sturdy shoes, bring bottled water, and allow plenty of time to “explore”.

This was the quietest park I've ever been in. The cabins were far enough apart plus the fact of virtually no cars whizzing down the road at all hours of the night makes it a quiet park for me. Got a cabin(17) purposely with no TV and we sat on the porch and talked . We don't get to at home so much. We hiked, kayaked a

nd enjoyed each other's company so much. Thank you so much for having a nice state park like this Tennessee!! We'll be back!

Visited Standing Stone for the first time in many years. The park seems to have slipped a lot and is not properly maintained. Cleanliness is lacking. Maintenance is lacking.

The pool is closed for the season because of Covid 19 and without the pool the park is pretty boring especially for kids.

Our specific cabin, group lodge #3, was dirty and had mice. It also had active boring insect damage. The exhaust fans in the bathrooms were clogged with a long time accumulation of dust.

To be fair, the park prices are cheap. The staff is friendly. But the management is really lax to allow this level of house keeping and maintenance.

So much potential here for a nice inexpensive rustic lodge and cabin setting. Only needs to be kept up or in this case to be returned to a higher standard.

Not one of the spectacular TN parks we visited, but it was enjoyable. We didn't camp but checked out some of the campgrounds and they looked nice.

The campground is not very tended to… No trash pick up in between campers and very bad electrical service… Over the course of four days, we lost electricity for a one day and the entire campground lost electricity for half a day. Park ranger says that it so outdated it can’t handle the electricity that people pull in there now. Car show was that weekend and that was kind of fun but not a lot to do in this this park.

Beautiful state park. Single lane road bridge over the dam. Lots of activities (tennis, swimming, paddle boats, cabins, fishing, etc) and events happen here. Glad we were able to visit and take part.
