Connected to the Greenway these are a nice segway from a walk with the dogs any time of year! There's quite a variety of plants, and areas to sit.

We were biking the greenway and stumbled on the gardens. It was a nice break and a beautiful walk. Definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area. It’s small, but peaceful and quiet.

What a great botanical garden. IMHO much better that the Knoxville Botanical Garden. Even in the August heat there were lots of things in bloom including some gorgeous huge hibiscus.

Wonderful place to visit. Well maintained plants, even though it is October. The butterfly garden was my favorite as there were hundreds of monarch butterflies feeding and around me as I walked on the path.

I went expecting a quick stop only to find that the university dedicated a large area and much effort to make these spectacular gardens. So much in bloom and so many shades of greenery too. My husband and I enjoyed meandering through the many areas and appreciated the themed displays

The blooming flowers were lovely! So much time taken to make it so desirable to
walk around and enjoy. I gave it a four stars because it is not accessible in the entire garden for walkers or wheelchairs. Plus all the restrooms were closed. If you don't park in a UT Garden visitor space, your vehicle will be ticketed and towed. So you
have to be aware of where you are and if UT is in session for the new semester,
you will have a tough time getting a parking space. The road sign to the gardens was missing the day we were there. Nonetheless, it is has some beautiful flowers, welcoming places to sit and on a cool day...the best. Enjoy!

My aunt just retired as the director of UT Gardens and helped start it. The gardens before she and her constituents came along was nothing more than swamp woods and trial gardens. Look at it today! It is now recognized as the one of the best gardens in the state. Its only hindrance over other botanical gardens is size. It is limited by its location but its not small either. I have worked on the gardens while I was in college at UT along side one of my aunt's masters student who is now a renowned landscape designer in East TN. His company that I helped him start is Garden Gurus Services. He designed several of the features there including one of the most photographed beds there. Its definitely one of the better gardens I have been too.

As it should be, the Gardens are a work in progress with things changing all the time. It is very well kept and the signage is informative. The price is right, it's free and we always enjoy visiting.

Where do you park? We will be going midweek in late March.

MOnday through Friday parking is very limited. There are only 10 places, first come first severved, right on Jacobs AVe in front of the entrance. The rest of those spots are PERMIT Required, and campus police will ticket you.
Otherwise plan your visit on a weekend, There is a big lot across the street which, I believe, is open to non permit holders on Weekends (or it used to be!).

Hello, Our garden is admission free for everyone. You are welcome to visit 7 days a week from dawn until dusk. We do offer pre-scheduled tours for a fee of $5 per person. Please email Derrick Stowell at dstowell@utk.edu. -Holly Jones
