Was bigger than it looked, a lot of the exhibits were hands on but alas a lot weren't working. Lady on door was helpful.
Went up 2 different stairs from the top floor which both led to no where?
Worth a visit with the kids (or big kids) loved trying to get the boats to sail, and tying the knots

Good museum. Not massive but very interesting. The seasickness comes on when you get into ships cabin on a rough sea. I'll let you find out. There's a room with some very good model ships. See if you can find the one that has a crew member on the loo.

The main purpose of our visit to the museum was to see the Occupation Tapestries.
12 panels showing life during the Nazi Occupation (with a 13th added later). They are very well displayed, with interactive panels explaining fully what's on view.
Beautifully made and very moving.
A very helpful staff member answered all our questions.
(Lower change of £4.95 if you only want to see the tapestries rather than the whole museum)

When we visited this museum which is situated alongside the attractive marina in St Helier, my husband spent most of his time upstairs in the main museum whilst for me it was the lure on the ground floor and the tapestry depicting Jersey's experiences during the Second World War. Hubby found the museum to be interesting and well laid out, without being too detailed or extensive. For me, the tapestry was fantastic and fascinating. The work involved is unbelievable and each scene is so carefully portrayed and beautifully sewn. Under each scene is a clear explanation of the various sections, along with information about the 12 parishes and the sewers who contributed - so enjoyable to learn about those responsible for such exquisite work. To our minds, this museum is a 'must' for anyone interested in Jersey's history.

What a brilliant place - doesn’t matter how old you are you can’t fail to enjoy this. Full of interacting items - experience life aboard ship in a cabin - you’ll need your sea legs ! The globe is brilliant, the knitted and crocheted under the sea exhibition is great. Lots to open, press, turn and experience. The occupation tapestries are part of your ticket - wonderful to see with great write ups. This place is a gem on a wet day and your ticket lasts all day. No cafe on site but very close by lots of places. Friendly for all - lift, stairlifts etc. value for money and super friendly chap on the ticket desk.

Very disappointing, hardly a museum more a children's playground. My husband and I had expected a traditional museum, with interesting displays and information about the maritime history of Jersey and the nearby Channel Islands. That is not what we experienced and got out as soon as we could, it was that bad. We live near Liverpool and often visit the Maritime Museum there which is excellent, laid out like a proper museum and so informative, and is highly praised with often visitors coming from abroad to go there. We have also visited the Maritime Musuem in Greenwich, (first rate), and a much smaller Maritime Museum in Malta which we loved and again was laid out like a traditional museum. The only thing of interest to us was the Occupational Tapestry, beautifully done and we had previously during our holiday met a lady who had worked on it.

We had mixed feelings on our visit. There were a lot of interactive exhibits that children would enjoy and we enjoyed the story of the boat Diana. However, we felt that the museum lacked cohesion and didn’t tell the story of Jersey’s maritime history. The attached tapestry exhibit was excellent and was worth the admission ticket alone.

Very child(and adult) friendly museum with plenty of interactive features to play with. From making waves to sounding fog horns to little boxes to explore something for all ages . Very good.

Really great museum. Kids loved all the interactive elements, as did us adults, lots of fun had by all. Would definitely recommend.
