From the car park there is a lovely walk around the reservoir but dogs have to be kept on leads because of the wild life. We took 2 hours because there was so much to stop for and look around. The actual dam, which was closed when we went, is impressive especially when viewed from below. Also the Bronze Age stone house circles were plainly visible as the water levels are low now. There were ponies and a foal which had come to the lakeside to drink. We saw cormorants sunning themselves quite near the path. There were quite a few people walking in both directions and it was easy walking. The path takes you away from the lake at the far end but it is still lovely.

Great place to visit for a shortish easy walk around the reservoir. We took a detour to Fernworthy Stone circle which was well worth the short walk up the hill and return to path. Great views of the reservoir and well kept paths. We had a drink from the 'lady in the van' who was very friendly. We also got chatting to a man who said you can join SW Lakes for a reasonable fee and get parking free at various lakes and reservoirs which we will definitly look into.

The round reservoir walk does what it says on the tin, though you see more of the reservoir at the start than you do later. Said to take 2-3 hours, but only took us just over one hour. Most of the signage is very good, but had to negotiate a short section of path which was under repair - maybe only a problem for a day or two.

This well managed nature reserve hosts many delights so accessible by the very good footpaths. Even on a Bank Holiday, the expected crowd of walkers and many dogs do not detract from the wonders to be found. Helpful maps indicate that the round the lake walk may take over 2 hours, but in fact 1 ½ hours may be adequate. However, taking time to loiter and also stop for a picnic could easily take a morning or afternoon. Signs along the way highlight some things to look out for including 3 species of orchid, and a butterfly, the Marsh Fritillary. Birds abound and their song resounds from the woods around the lake (birds today included cuckoo, blackcap, willow warbler, garden warbler, tree pipit and common redstart). There are of course toilet facilities and at least from Thursday to Sunday during the summer, ‘Moorish Delights’ provides a very welcome selection of snacks and drinks.

Visited for the first time parked in the reservoir car park, walked the dogs for an hour, came back to find car lock damaged and drivers window smashed, various items stolen.
Exeter Autoglass repaired the window and said they get a lot of work from cars parked in this car park, have had 2 in one day they told me. Shame it’s a lovely spot but stay clear.!!!

We choose the right day to come here
Sun ....blue sky ...crystal clesr water
Very enjoyable walk around the reservoir approximately two hour walk
We choose to walk around clock wise saving the marvel of the Dam till last and thats a magnificent sight in its self
Very picturesque surroundings including woodland walks streams field's and wild horses
Some uphill sections but more than manageable for all ages

With a little tea cabin for tea coffee or the odd sandwich sausage roll etc

Nice fairly flat walk around the reservoir. Takes about 1-1/2 hours. Whilst we walked it after a lot of rain there wasn't many muddy places.

We found this beautiful reservoir on our travels around Devon and we re so glad we did it’s such a beautiful area with lovely walks around it.
Good size car park with toilets available, pay for parking at machine which were working £2 for a couple of hours or £4 for all day!
The other unexpected surprise was to find a little van with a lovely lady selling drinks, tea coffees freshly made bacon baps, fresh jams,chutneys, cakes etc which were very tasty. Thanks to Moorish Moments for adding to our wonderful visit to this special place, we hope to visit again in the future the only slight downside is that after Changford the roads are very narrow to get to the reservoir but worth it.

Is the Reservoir area fully wheelchair accessible, also how far is the Reservoir from the car park?

At the back corner of the car park farthest away from the water there is a gate which gives way to a path.
The path is good , fairly level, and eventually ends up close to the dam but not actually at it.
You can't get any farther because from there it descends down to a foot bridge for the circular walk.
But ithe path does give good views of the reservoir and there are some benched along the way with pleasant views.

was there 3 weeks ago and unable to find the stone circle ,i believe its on the far side of the lake from the carpark. all the paths thru the forest look the same (also unsignposted) and the forest is impenetratable without using the paths .
