We went to the dartmeet Hotel today, mainly to check it out, because my girlfriends daughter has to be a bridesmaid there in a few weeks time
Wow, such an excellent place, and yes it is wheelchair accessible, and the menu looked amazing, just imagine how good it was to sit down and hear the river burbling and the wildlife just moving around the grounds, and yes I was impressed with the service and the staff, who are very keen to help the customer

This is a wonderful area - easy to get to and very pictureresque ith wonderful walks in all directions - some long and some short depending on your fitness levels. There is loads of parking with when its open a small cafe selling drinks, ice creams etc. You could easily spend a day here.

This was truly a special place - we’ve never seen a prettier bridge in the heart of a rustic national park.

used to visit and bring the children here when on holiday in devon lovely place.
what has happened visited this year in sept. shop and nice cafe gone. menu a bit arty farty. no plain food. take away cafe in car park not open. will only visit in future to walk along the river will bring own picnic.

We drove from Ashburton up through Dartmoor to reach Dartmeet. The roads are windy and narrow in places, but fine if you take them with care.
The car park costs £2. The walks are very picturesque. There are stepping stones over the river, which are great fun if you take care. Well worth a visit.

Nearly missed this. We were on our way back from Loo to Totnes and instead of taking the main roads we decided to go through the country and just take our time. We are so glad we did, what a beautiful area. We saw the River as we went over the bridge, we managed to turn around not far away and come back to the car park. the River is beautiful, such gorgeous scenery and colours. we had a lovely break in our journey here. would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.

in the hustle and bustle of tourists, this beautiful setting is thankfully usually missed. The river dart runs through dappled shade and is crystal clear and there is the remains of a Clapper bridge. Clapper bridges are an ancient form of bridge, most commonly erected in medieval times to aid river crossings, other river crossings included fords and stepping stones. The word clapper is thought to derive from the Anglo-Saxon word ‘cleaca’, meaning stepping stones or bridging the stepping stones. This is ideal for a picnic and to soak up the atmosphere - just chill

Wednesday 19th August 2020, My husband and I drove down to Dartmeet. Dartmeet is a popular tourist spot; it lies about 4.5 miles east of Two Bridges. As the name suggests, Dartmeet is the meeting point of the two major tributaries of the River Dart: the East Dart and West Dart.
The road bridge, built in 1792, spans the East Dart; just above it, at the side of the large car park is an earlier, possibly medieval, Clapper Bridge, now partially collapsed. The actual confluence of the two rivers is just downstream of the bridge.
Due to the heavy rain which has swelled the rivers, the water was white water rapids, white and boiling and the sound of the water was a deafening roar, which was really amazing and I took some really wonderful photographs of the bridge, cascading water and my husband and I sitting on the rocks by the river.
Dartmeet is at the centre of an important archaeological landscape mainly due to its prehistoric field systems, delineated by reaves, many of which can be found on Yartor Downs and are the best preserved examples in North West Europe.

Beautiful riverside walking. Took a take away tea from the little tea shop at the car park and wandered along the river.

The car park was busy but luckily one pulled out just in front of us. The parking fee is reasonable as the money goes to upkeep the area. We gathered our things walked across the road beside the bridge then probably another 15 minutes till we could find a quiet area. As it was a hot day and a weekend, lots of families were there but we found a spot where we could sit on the side and also walk in for a wallow in the river.
